Excuse the Name: Trompetas de Muerte Wild Trumphet Mushrooms
A very common Iberian wild mushroom variety from the Forests of Irati, Navarra, 50 km. from the renowned Pamplona, is a grand biosphere and national park called Irati ..
These Trumphets, black and wrinkled are found in this región amongst the forest dwelling trees ..
Have you ever seen or have prepared them ?
They resemble a " morille " from France ..
They are commonly prepared with tagliatelli or spaghetti .. parsely, garlic and Evoo .. Simple ! A true delicacy if you are a mushroom fan .. They also accompany filet mignon ..
Have lovely day ..

They are called Horn of Plenty in England, and are to be found in our woods too, my dad could have found you a basket full in the Weald.

We get Trompettes de mort growing round these parts and I have picked and eaten them many times. I sometimes dry them when there is a glut.

They are, in my opinion, completely different from Morilles (morels) which are a spring fungus and infinitely tastier, rarer and much much more expensive if you have to buy them. They also look completely different the latter not having gills like most mushrooms. the look almost like tiny sponges on the end of a stalk.

Not that I would turn away any wild mushroom - edible of course!

Do you find that really fresh morels have a funny smell? My mum said “like bleach” which isn’t quite right, but we knew what she meant.
Delicious when cooked of course

Did you mean download or save or just viewing. I had no probs in watching it.
Saving it as a video file, I like the app, tubemate, for android. Tube mate should be available at google play

Joan,
I meant that both the trumpta de muerto and the morille though totally different in taste profile, somewhat resemble each other, a bit .. One may look like a trumphet but is quite wrinkled too.
Morilles are very spongy looking ..
Yes, Thank you for the links ..
Shall definitely view them ..
Morilles are difficult to to get in Spain .. Anything can be driven across the Pyrenées of course, but trompetas de muerto are a staple in the forests of Navarra and the Catalan Pyrenées
(Lleida) ..
Have a lovely evening ..

Sue,
Horn of Plenty ! Interesting name for Trompetas de Muertos ( Trumphets ) ..
Lleida is 1 hour + more or less away from Cadaqués on the northern Costa Brava ..
Thank you for your feedback ..

Mark,
No, Trumphets are a Spanish wild mushroom from The Irati Región, 50 km. from Pamplona .. ( black and look like a tiny Trumphet with long stems that are very wrinkled ) ..
Morels are French ( sponge textured ) ..
Thank you for the 2 Ramsay recipes ..
Shall take a look tomorrow as it is quite late here ..
Trumphets pair very well with Filet Mignon and / or tagliatelli or spaghetti ..
They are very very sublimely exquisite ..

Mark,
Got to watch the 2 videos using Morilles .. Very wonderful surely ..
Please note: The mushroom I am speaking about it a Spanish wild variety, called Trompetas de Muerto ( Black Trumphets ) ..
And the best way to eat them is simply to sauté very lightly in Spanish Evoo with a clove of garlic, and some fresh minced parsley ..
Otherwise, due to their extreme delicateness, other ingredients over power the trumphets and thus, results shall be a dish with trumphets. They are placed on top of pasta and / or served with Filet Mignon of Beef on the side usually on a slate board ..
Have a nice weekend ..
