Tired of the same old tuna salad sándwich ? Try this fabulous Tuscan Tuna and Cannelli Bean Salad Sándwich and so so simple .. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

4 Sándwiches on bread of choice:

2 Large glass bowls - one for the bean mixture and 1 for the tuna mixture ..
2 Garlic cloves mixed
1 tblsp fresh lemon juice
2 tblsps Italian Bio Extra virgin olive oil
2 tblsps fresh minced parsley or dill
1 / 4 tsp. salt if you wish
1 / 4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
Soaked over night & simmered until tender: Cannelli white beans or northern beans or navy beans ( cooked and at room temperature ). Use a stand up mixer and purée or blitz into a hummus type mousse ..

For the Tuna Salad:

1 Jar of Cuca Galician Ventresca ( white albacore tuna belly ) in Evoo
2 tblsps pitted olives of choice and sliced finely
1 celery stalk finely chopped
2 tblsps of green or red onion minced
2 tblsps Evoo
1 tblsp fresh lemon juice
salt and fresh black pepper to taste

Prepare the beans:

Coarsely blend the beans with a fork in a bowl and put in, the minced garlic, lemon juice, Evoo, the fresh herbs, the onions, the celery, the olives and combine well .. One can add 1 tblsp of Mayonnaise of choice, however, we do not ..

The Tuna:

Flake the tuna in a glass bowl and then stir in the rest of the ingredients except the bean mixture .. Salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste ..

Sandwiches:

Spoon one fourth of the tuna on 1 bread slice and 1 / 8 of the bean mixture on 1 bread slice, of Chapata or Baguette and top with some water kress or lettuce of choice and then top with 2nd half of the bread .. Press down a bit with your hands and enjoy !

Superbly splendidly and truly a delight on a scorching day .. :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

Have a lovely weekend ahead .. :wave :wave :wave :wave :wave :wave :wave

The combination of tuna and beans is amazing. It works so very well.
I can still remember eating a starter in a London restaurant - Tonno è Fagioli. Tuna, cannelli beans, olive oil, garlic, red onion. That was it - but so, so delicious.

It's something that I love too - used to be very popular in Italian restaurants round here, as a starter.

Pampy,

Thank you for your feedback .. :thumbsup :thumbsup

Definitely always lovely .. And healthy too ..

Can also be lovely as an appetiser on canapés .. Or what we call a "montado" ( a 6 inch to 8 inch baguette ) ..

Have a wonderful summer and weekend too .. :wave :wave

Hi Mark

I have had a Pan Bagna a couple of time before, which is very similar to the Nicoise Baguette recipe you shared. I might have had it without the egg though. It is, however, delicious, and very welcome on a hot and active day

Niçoise-stuffed-baguette: that´s simply got to be a variation on Pan Bagnat - and very tasty it is too!
