Goose Neck Barnacles: One either Loves or Detests !
Good Morning:
Some of the most sublime exquisite shellfish, goat & sheep cheeses and fruit are from this Atlantic Coastal country with an extensive history to match ..
Percébes & Portugal as they are known in Galicia & Portugal, are either loved or depised .. Love or Hate ?
One must acquire a taste for these unusual mollusks .. They are exquisite, however, I have known many people who detest the mollusks ..
These "dinaosaur" looking shelled morsels are steamed to perfection and the interiors are slurped right out of their shells ..
Last night, we had dined at: Two Michelin Restaurant Belcanto, located in a former tiny palatial building in the Barrio Chiada neighborhood.
Two Michelin, Food Designer José Avillez, ( Tri-lingual: Portuguese, Spanish & English ) was mentored by, The Adria Brothers, Martin Berasategui, Juan Mari Arzak and Pedro Subijana, to name a few of his former professors ..
Was an amazingly lovely dinner and the Verdejo Green (White ) Wines paired were simply sublimely refined ..
If in Lisbon: www.belcanto.pt / www.belcanto.com
Have a lovely day ..

Barcelona, soulful & spirited, filled with fine art, amazing architecture, profoundly steeped in culture & history, and it engages all your senses, and food fancies.

Member 461, what a wonderful restaurant with a fascinating menu! There must be such a lot to talk about during the meals. The video was very interesting, too.

Never had a barnacle of any kind but would like to try one. Love most shellfish other than winkles, and it is mainly that they are cery small and have to be eaten with a pin I don't like

Sue,
Thank you for your feedback ..
If you like snails and razor clams (navajas) then, you would like Barnacles.. They have their similarities & their nuances too ..
They are great bar food with a nice white wine ..
Have a wonderful weekend ..

I love razor clams, but having been brought up on a coast where I could have foraged them for nothing, I only learned to eat them after I moved to London - Adam Byatt at Trinity cooks them wonderfully

Thank you for your feedback, Sue ..
In Spain, as you are aware, Navajas (razor clams ) are grilled in Evoo and sprinkled with sea salt and slurped off the shells or eaten with a lobster fork ..
Very common "bar-fare" ..
Have a nice wkend ..
