I've learned that electricals that will remain in stock and are popular rarely get reduced. Also, whilst clothes are often significantly reduced, popular sizes sell out almost instantly.

Never mind, consol yourself with some Matchmakers on special offer at half price, ostensibly buying for stocking fillers, says I looking at the half empty box before me

Save some for me, Jeral.

Dennis.
When we got our google stick, we could have got an amazon fire stick too for the same price.
I got the google one, as I was going to use googlechrome.

I understand since then, the amazon stick doesn't play youtube - no worries here.
But I have a sneaky suspicion you need Alexa to run the amazon one now?

Still our google stick at the time was £30.

I've not seen any deals I want yet.

I don't have a Fire stick, but my understanding is they come with a remote you can either use normally, or voice activated via Alexa. We too have a Google Chromecast, but unfortunately Amazon won't allow you to stream content from Prime video on your phone/tablet to the stick.

Asda's pineapples always seem to be £1. I always feel sorry for the growers, because they must be working for nothing. :(

I've seen pineapples in quite a few prices for around £1 - but these in Morrisons are the biggest I've ever seen. The fruit part is over 12" high!

Pampy, wow a giant. Are you sure it's not you who's shrunk? Just asking in case you might not have noticed...

Malibu is 25% off at Tesco, although for that much pineapple, a good few bottles wouldn't go amiss methinks.

What a wonderful justification for buying Malibu! I'm off to Tesco... :wino

Morrison’s usually have £1 pineapples and the big ones too, but according to an email from them the giants are £1 as part of a Black Friday promotions

Might get one - never mind the Malibu, I have both kirsch and maraschino :wino

Maraschino cherries? Well if you're turning into Dame Edna, better buy some glads as well...

I was wondering what I'd do with a huge pineapple (apart from freezing a lot), then I remembered a fave of pineapple Pavlova; I'm sure I could lose some maraschinos in it without trying toooo hard. ;)

No, I have Maraschino, the liqueur made from cherries that the cherries are supposedly steeped in (though usually in flavoured sugar syrup)

The best is Luxardo, which comes in a raffia covered square bottle, but mine is de Kuyper, which is fine, and very nice on pineapple

I have kirsch, Maraschino & cherry brandy all cherry, all totally different

The maraschino is essential for a Dacquiri Floridita, but you only use a couple of drops so my bottle is almost immortal!

Opposite of Bargain Basement really.

I'm enjoying some Brussels tops from the local market, but I wondered why they are £1.40 a pound when ordinary sprouts there are 50p a pound, when I presumed the tops were the throwaway budget bit of the plant that supermarkets don't even bother with (tasty though they are).

Anyone any thoughts?

They're probably fashionable at the moment! I have seen them mentioned quite a lot, but can never find them where I live.

I was going to say it’s a bit early in the season for Brussels tops, you usually only cut them admirer you have picked all the sprouts

Then I remembered that these days they pick the whole plant and strip all the sprouts off at once. Perhaps doing this mechanically damages the tops making them scarce?

This morning I bought 2 caponized guinea fowl for €6.00 each instead of €15. Not only were they a bargain but not seen except at this time of year.
As they are , of course bigger than "unarranged" birds I might get away with one between 6 for my planned main on Jan 1st

Morrison’s have 3 for a £1 Christmas veg; spuds, parsnips, sprouts, onions, carrots. I left the potatoes ( didn’t recognise the variety, bought King Edwards)and the carrots as I didn’t think I could use so many small ones before they went off

John Lewis is starting its sale at 5pm on Christmas Eve I believe.

That's leaving it a bit tight for the main day present giving!

I've got 3 lists on the go. Pickles, foil etc from Asda.
Shetland Salmon and stuffs at Waitrose.
Christmas Eve 7am at the local shops, butcher, veg and cheeses.

What have I forgotten.

Aldi’s Gorgonzola was 79p for 200g this morning. It’s probably not the sharpest Piccante I’ve ever eaten, but it’s not bad.

Aldi’s cheeses seem to be getting better. They are all prepackaged, of course, but even so, the quality is good. Their Manchego is lovely.
