Re: Gadget, you know you want it
I love my smoothies! I put in a small amount of water, 2 heaped tbsp. yoghurt, 1 tbsp. linseeds, a scoop of strawberry flavoured protein powder, which thickens it a bit, two small satsumas, 1 banana, 1 tbsp. oat bran and toasted nuts, or peanut butter. I use nectarines in the summer.

Clive, we have had "Milchmixgetränke" (milk mix drinks) for yonks, too, based on milk, buttermilk, Kefir and yoghurt.
Still, now pureed fruit and veg are called Smoothies instead of Fruchtpüreegetränk or Gemüsepüreegetränk, they are soooo much cooler!

Re: Gadget, you know you want it
Renee, I must come over to breakfast some time.
Hi Clive.
I was ordering batidas in Catalunya, and they didn't have a clue what I was asking for. Batido vs Batida, of course is nearly the same thing to my ears.
But they were completely lost. Until my obvious mistake dawned on me.
Fruchtpureegetrank is way cooler than smoothie Uschi.

Do you know the Budwig diet?
Linseed and quark for breakfast. Which is jolly lovely.
You have to eat the linseed ground within 15mins to achieve the benefits.

I can't put up with this tweetment any longer .........
My schoolfriend had a strange budgie that had a lean. No joke or funny line, it used to perch over to one side for no reason.

Re: Gadget, you know you want it
My last bought linseed was already ground. Does that mean that the nutrients have been lost Gill?

Re: Gadget, you know you want it
I'm afraid not, Renee.
In the book, it says to eat it within 15mins of fresh grinding for all the benefits.
I don't really know about that, but it's something I follow when I'm using them.
I use the flaxseed whole too, and know they just pass through you undigested that way.

I thought it was a Currywurst-cutter at first.
Love your avatar.
What is it? A mouse? Chincilla, pika, vole?

Re: Gadget, you know you want it
It's a mouse, my own drawing, although cheaty because I traced over a photograph with a rotring pen.
I used it on my letterhead back in 1978 as my logo! Hence the brown and cream, all the rage back then...

I love smoothies. I am on board Gill.
My friend made me a iced, date, coffee, milk, thing. It had espresso, dates, frozen banana, vanilla, almond milk and black treacle. It was delicious!

Re: Gadget, you know you want it
Hamster (Uschi), let me introduce you to Mouse (Sakkarin).
Tis a very good drawing.
OOooo I've got to try that, Foodie.
Will give it a go tomorrow, I have everything in. I think everyone would have all those ingredients in.
I feel like I've been served sausages decorated like that.

Re: Gadget, you know you want it
Not treacle since I realised treacle tarts use golden syrup....everyone has those ingredients in...
Re: Gadget, you know you want it
Thanks Sakkarin! I was wondering! As Gill said, I love my rodents and usually draw hamsters.
But my avatar is a mouse, too. I could not find a bespectacled hamster and since I also love mice I pounced when I found this picture on a Dutch site.

I meant to comment on your avatar Sakks. I'll bet that you did a lot of work yourself after tracing it.
Yes, treacle tart is made with syrup! Syrup tart doesn't sound quite right though!

Re: Gadget, you know you want it
Breakfast sorted!
Banana, porridge oats, a bit of soya milk. Slurp!
I've bought a second gadget, so that I've got one at home, and one at the studio.
Isn't treacle tart rhyming slang?
Syrup always reminds me of my childhood.
And my mum baking - she was an excellent baker.
