Sometimes, I am sure, professional chefs can do jobs much more quickly than us; chopping things neatly, separating eggs and so on, but it does seem occasionally that they ignore the time it takes to do slow, fiddly jobs like podding or peeling awkwardly shaped veg.

The other thing is I count prep time from when I put on my apron and start looking for ingredients and equipment to when I put the food in the oven and start loading the dishwasher while it cooks, because that is the time it takes out of my day.
I often think recipe writers time like tv cooks, from when everything is put out on the counter, just the actual ingredient prep.

I’ve just had a look at the picnic cake (harissa not mayonnaise ?), don’t think I’ll make it. I have a bit of stale sourdough, so I was looking for a panzanella recipe, found four, two of which looked horrible but one is Felicity Cloake’s Perfect Panzanella so looking good

I'd think that anything which required cooked potatoes and hard boiled eggs as well as other chopping, construction and baking would take a while!

I'm starting to feel glad I can't access the app without signing up to anything :D.

So far of the recipes are just some of those that you can see on the Guardian Food online, I think some in Observer Feast monthly that maybe aren't public
It's just a good index and search, with better laid out recipes, not recipes that are any better or worse than regular Guardian and Observer recipes. ( I am obviously talking about the full fat version for Guardian subscribers)

Interestingly, a Google search for Guardian panzanella recipe comes up with a slightly different list, so presumably the app had only recipes that are formatted and indexed

Yes, me too, I sometimes wonder if I must be the slowest cook in the world!!

But then I do waste time fanatically scraping out bowls etc, which often takes longer than preparing whatever it was

It's very funny, our two DSs are completely different: DS1 takes after me and prides himself on extracting the last smidgeon of hummus out of the bowl; DS2 is like OH and tends not to bother much (although OH is beginning to learn after 45 years or so  )

OH gave it 10/10!
I think it was nice, but not a 10. You need at least double the salsa. (Juice and zest of a whole lemon, 3tblsp+ parsley etc)
My half had chopped red pepper instead of olives.

Got a notification from Guardian Feast that there was a collection of 10 quick snack recipes. Tapped it, the Feast app opened…

Not only did it not open the collection, I don’t think it exists.
