Oh no KK! Excellent damage control by the sounds of things though.
We had fresh crab on toast for lunch; with lemon wedges, cucumber and rocket.
Dinner is about to be a salmon curry with new potatoes, onion, green beans, coconut and curry leaves from the garden, plus chillies and other spices. Rice on the side. We planted the curry plant 5 years ago and it really is taking over. I love the waft of it on a warm evening however. Even my 5 year old sticks her face in it and breathes it in. Glad to know she’s a curry fan already.

Thinking about you KK .....
Thank you, Renée. Let´s hope there´s a solution today, although my neighbour´s stashed all perishables in his fridge

Inspired by KKA having to had use up stuff from the freezer, I was inspired today to make a roast tomato and basil soup (delicious) and a pesto from almonds (no pine kernels here) .. can you tell I had plenty of basil
Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
What a good neighbour and a relief that you haven't lost too much food.
Patsy, you've been busy! Basil is lovely! I'm sure that your pesto turned out really well using the ground almonds.

I can’t remember, I think just a local garden centre. It’s spread to about 1.5 metres wide and a metre tall so it likes its spot that’s for sure.
Breakfast was toast with chocolate spread and strawberries. Lunch was a seafood platter of prawns, smoked salmon, potted smoked mackerel, sourdough toast, a green salad, pickles, and lemon wedges.
We were supposed to have venison for dinner but we didn’t fancy it in this heat. So it’s gone into the freezer and we had an antipasti plate of braesola, cheese, olives, lovely heirloom tomatoes, gem lettuce, radishes from the garden dipped in melted salted butter and a bowl of strawberries. And a bottle of wine.

Tonight will be a HM chilli from the freezer.
Been fancying it for a few days.
Usually on a Friday we meet our pals for a couple of drinks then I come home and heat the chilli up and J gets a bag of chips.
As the pub is off limits we will probably have it with rice tonight.

Oh dear! Or words to that effect, Clive.
Gammon joint here - blimey you get a lot of meat for not much money. With a light parsley sauce, lemon potatoes and asparagus.
We'll have the same again tonight.
And then I'll make a cheese & ham quiche with the remaining gammon for Sunday.

Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
Last night we had a picnic on the village rec. We made sausage rolls and took some brie, crusty bread, chutney, tomatoes, cornichons and watermelon.
We had poached eggs with asparagus and toast for breakfast. Bit weird but it was more like brunch I suppose. I let DD create the marinade for chicken thighs for a bbq this evening. I got out some suggested ingredients but I’m not sure what actually went in it! It was delicious anyway. We also had jacket potatoes, Jamie Oliver’s purple coleslaw and a lovely salad of heirloom tomatoes with feta, basil, balsamic and pomegranate. Cornettos featured earlier too...purely for cooling down purposes

Tonight we had an Angela Hartnett recipe from The Guardian a couple of weeks ago.
Pasta with peas, mint, parmesan and Parma ham.
I added asparagus because we had some ready in the garden.
It was delicious.

Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
We have just shared a very large duck breast which was sprinkled 2 days ago with star anise & seschwan (sp) with stock cooked rice and some chopped BBQ'd veg which was left over - it made a good mix.
I have in the fridge, 2 pork shoulder chops sitting in a mix of MSG, black pepper, garlic and oregano. Some beef marinading ready for beef satay and something else I can't remember ????? We are out to lunch at fiends on Wed. so must have some sort of fish on Thursday. Oh, yes, I made a beef stroganoff this morning which will fester in the fridge for a day or 2.

I haven't felt terribly hungry since the weather's been nice. I love the sound of the picnic on the green.
I've finally used all the Peppa Pig pasta - on pasta salad eaten over several days. It was semi wholemeal and not very pleasant. It's been that with salad and quick fish or cheese. I think it'll be jacket potato tonight with cheese and salad. I've got potatoes to use up (potato salad to morrow!).

Tonight I've just made Ottolenghi's Kisir: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyl ... ottolenghi
We'll have it with fried halloumi, hummus and pittas.
Afterwards, Lidl's Baklava.

Had a nice fillet of cod in beer batter from M&S today . Didn’t fancy chips so made a potato salad and a little tomato salad alongside

Last night made a really quite nice paneer tika masala thing last night but a bit of a cheat as I used a spice mix. It was one I bought from a specialist Indian online shop, and the translated instructions were ba bit vague (and had bits missing) but the result was good. Had with garlic naan breads with nigella seeds on them (my fave).

Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
Now that the weather's cooler I'm looking forward to cooking something. Stir fried veg & prawns with noodles will hit the spot.
For the past couple of days I've been eating what looked like a delicious salmon quiche which had been rtc in M&S, with salad Sadly, it wasn't as nice as it looked or smelt, even when heated. I'm glad there's none left.

Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
Not sure what we'll have for tea tonight. It is really cold here so something nice and comforting, possibly a curry. I got a nice cauli in yesterday's Ocado delivery and I have plenty of tinned chickpeas so might do that.
Lunch today is a croissant filled with cheese (and salami for OH) plus some zhoug paste.
I didn't bother yesterday evening, we had a massive lunch of leftovers so I wasn't hungry. The night before I made caponata, which we had with bulgur wheat and some griddled veggie 'chicken' fillets.

Re: What's everyone cooking this week?
The beef satay finally was cooked last night, very tasty and the marinade had done its job ! The sauce (although a bit on the hot side for me) was very tasty, he loved it and we have 2 small portions for another time. Breadcrumb pollack, HM chips and mushy P's for supper tonight and beef stroganoff (tinned M'rooms) for Sat. lunch. We are going out on Monday to Selsey Bill so supper might very well be the rest of the satay when we get home.
Bacon is featuring a lot too, as I opened a catering pack so must plough through it before it 'turns'.
