Eating Out!

Postby Grasshopper » Tue May 19, 2020 10:29 pm

Believe it or not - I managed to eat out today! :thumbsup
I had popped into town this morning, in order to deliver some paperwork. As I was pootling through town, the most delectable smell came wafting towards me.
A food van was just starting the day's cooking. They do burgers, hotdogs, baked spuds, hot sarnies & such. I've been known to indulge in the occasional treat :yum
After delivering the paperwork and doing a little shopping, I discovered I faced a half hour wait for the next bus, it being Sunday service :x
So, I pootled over to the food van and treated myself to a bacon roll, no sauce or butter - just bread & bacon, and I could sit nearby with that and a cuppa.
Oh dear G-d it tasted soooooooo good!!!!! :yum
When you haven't been able to even have a sniff of a bacon roll for AGES, it tastes even nicer. The bacon was juicy too.

:yum

It's the simple things that are giving us pleasure at the moment, isn't it?

I am longing for a donner kebab with a huge salad and chilli sauce.

Why haven’t you had a sniff of a bacon roll for ages ? Is there a reason you can’t cook it at home ,do you live with vegetarians and find it difficult to cook meat

My housemate queued for an hour the other day for KFC. Now while The colonels secret recipe cannot be beaten , I don’t think there’s anything I’m missing that much to queue for an hour for

I'm longing for chips at the seaside - and ice cream. Both taste different there!

I agree re the chips, being a sand grown'un myself.

We have an excellent curry house in the village and I'm looking forward to a vegetable thali there.
They are open for takeaway and delivery. We had one a couple of weeks at but I missed the draught Kingfisher and the chat with the staff.

I have to admit I haven’t been tempted to have a takeaway as I find they’re best when coming home from the pub..

One thing I am looking forward to is to resume the occasional Saturday outings with friends which normally starts with a Wetherspoon’s breakfast, the Punch Bowl in York is excellent albeit always busy.

Cheers
NLB :thumbsup

They don’t treat the breweries who supply them very well either.

My first doner kebab was from a local shop who clearly proudly declared it was home-made chilli sauce. I merely thought, OK, but boy is there a difference from bought-in or ketchup sorts. Doner can't be made at home, although grilled lamb koftas are easy if one has a blender.

Eating out takeaway, especially with the salty tang at the seaside, is obligatory :D Instant gratification of enticing smell and someone else doing the cooking! What more could one want? Sun optional.

We're having fish & chips tomorrow, curtesy of the seriously fab Shap Chippy. They've been doing 'click & collect' throughout, but now have a mobile van so we don't even have to drive to Shap :D

My neighbours haven’t stopped serving doner in their takeaway at all, though they have furloughed the assistant, and the column of doner is much smaller than usua

Best Kebab has had queues I believel

Amy - of course we have bacon at home, BUT what I meant was, I hadn't had a sniff of a bacon roll outside of home, which made the one I had in town SO tasty!

NLB we were there on NYE (although I couldn’t eat told you the name), followed by Escape, just down the road. Good fun.
