What I meant to say was.
Being a fairly prolific baker I buy 500g packs of pro instant vac packed yeast which keeps excellently in the freezer after opened. All but unobtainable at the moment so well done Seatallen.
I'm just about to open my last pack which is ok as it will last ages but I'd prefer to have another in reserve. Sniff.

Possibly dennispic, still trying to work my way round the board.
Nice to be in touch again, there are a lot of old friends on here.
So do you live in Somerset, we moved here two years ago love it.

One of my best friends lives in Stoke St Gregory - are you anywhere near there?

Will be interested to see how it works. I saw Fermipan on amazon but some bad reviews (and some good ones.)
Kind of kicking myself for not buying from Franchi when I could. OH (chief bread maker) kept saying what we have would last a long while...

I'll ask my friend if she knows the village, or, indeed, anyone who lives there!

More luck than judgement. Mind you, many of the local village shops tend to have a good stock on things like yeast because just about everyone around here bakes regularly even in normal times. I send them a FB message to see if they had any and they saved one for us. It was a result however (and only just over £5.00!! )

Re: Yeast supply,s
I managed to get a Doves Farm baking box earlier this week and have seen that they have had some availability every day. The box includes a pack of dried yeast as well as several bags of flour. It is £11 plus a courier fee but given how short I was on supplies I am really thrilled to have it. Arrived within 48 hours.
Re: Yeast supply,s
First time I've done the "early morning shop" at Tesco, primarily to see if they have yeast in early. Just 9 minute queueing, there was plenty there, I've got two tubs.
P.S. Did anyone realise it's Bank Holiday weekend!?! Ha!

It isn’t a bank holiday tomorrow, it has been moved to Friday for the VE Day anniversary.
Re: Yeast supply,s
Dear me, I missed that completely! I've stopped watching the news, because it is wall-to-wall coronavirus, most of it irrelevant and repetitious. Don't see what the link is between the May 1st celebration and VE day though, personally it seems inappropriate. With so many of us stuck at home anyway, it could easily have been given its own "holiday day".
Re: Yeast supply,s
It was moved ages ago, I booked flights for my aborted holiday before Christmas and had to take it into account when I requested leave.
Apparently the bank holiday was also moved in 1995 for the 50th anniversary https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-48565417

Yes I remember going to a VE jubilee celebration in 1995 - very good Andrews sisters tribute act, a few fireworks, not much else
Re: Yeast supply,s
I was 11, almost 12 and don’t particularly remember a bank holiday. My parents lived on a small cul de sac and we had a BBQ and party in my next door neighbour’s garden with some of the other families from the street.

It was indeed. Oddly enough, it was the second time I met my now husband. We happened to be in the same local pub at the same time (we had mutual friends) and all sat outside together. It was memorable both because I was very glad to meet him again and also because as we were enjoying our drinks, a pair of very drunk men turned up and kicked off at the bar when the landlord (who was a friend of ours) refused to serve them. It all turned nasty with one of them knocking tables over and the other going for the landlord with a beer glass. We had to call the police and the pub had to be shut for the rest of the day. Ah, memories....
