I'm afraid the only cure I have is to stay away from pubs :-(

I think that drinking plenty of water before going to bed helps. I've used n-acetyl cysteine capsules, which seem to reduce the after effects, possibly also vitamin c.

Those of course are preventatives, albeit not as effective as a degree of abstinence...

If you get a hangover, more fluid and rehydration sachets perhaps, but it's in the lap of the gods. If I wake up slightly groggy and function at half speed, it will improve over time no matter what I do. These days I don't get proper hangovers because I don't drink as much as I once did.

A glass of fresh orange juice before retiring (collapsing!)followed by lots of water. Better still a class of water between each alcoholic drink.

You could , of course, always try Jo Grundies famous hangover cure :D

Full sugar coke or lucozade followed by gallons of water and something stodgy to soak up the booze . Failing that , hair of the dog ??

If you do the crime - you have to do the time...…!

Nothing works really - you have to wait for a good night's sleep on the day of said hangover.

i drink plenty of water during and after, if partying, otherwise i don't drink that much - not that i've ever had a hangover (- even before getting to a more sensible age).

i read somewhere recently that alcohol gets metabolised before food when drunk with a meal so eating something for a hangover is unlikely to do anything.

Hair of the dog and a Full English - for a "half dead" fuzzy sleepy hungry hangover. 2 aspirins or plink plink fizz for a headache one.

Q: Why do boozy nights make one ultra hungry next morning, even if having eaten normally? Maybe tummy is craving something else to work on that isn't booze?

The very thought of haggis and eggs, French toast or crumpets would make me want to throw.
Mine´s the hair of the dog - a really cold beer.
Mind you, the Mexican Michelada is also very effective - as I discovered on my last trip to México!

A thread that has made my dust of my login.

Mainly because I am heading into manchester at 1.30pm from work to see an old work pal before sloping off at 7 for a 40th. Because of this I may be a tad groggy tomorrow.

My cure. Wake up after 5 hours rubbish sleep. A glass of full fat coke, a banana and a pint of water. Then enter into what I call the "nap zone" an hour of 10 minute micro snoozes.

P.s. Hello all! :wave

Hi WFF :wave - good to hear from you. Hope you enjoy your night out and don't need too much of a cure tomorrow!

I don't drink to excess these days but when I was younger, I found that while they didn't cure the hangover, cold pizza, curry, chips or kebab along with full-fat coke made me feel a bit better.

Well today has not been as bad as expected.

The age old cure sorted me out. A large big mac meal and full fat coke from McDonalds. It's a rare occasion that I turn to the big yellow M for support. But today was one of those days.

Back on the horse now as I am going to (and I cant believe I am saying this) a Xmas party at friends tonight as they are going away till January.

It's obviously fine to go to a Christmas party as there is a house up the road with outdoor decorations flashing away.
Already.

Noticed yesterday that a guy near me was putting final touches to his annual display. It can probably be seen from space.

I haven't done the Christmas markets in Manchester this year.

............... and no-one's mentioned the chuddy cure either.
Chewing gum.

I've tried it once over a decade ago, and it worked. Gets the gastric juices flowing.

My overdrinking days are no more, but I do sometimes have a dodgy reaction that I need to deal with.
I'm a bit light weight.
