Re: Sushi making kit?
The problem I find with making noodle shaped veg ribbons on a spiraliser is that it works fine with thin cylindrical veg such as courgettes and carrots but with something like a sweet potato you have to cut the cylinder first, and if it has corners it flakes rather than forming ribbons
There’s a reason we have a word for courgetti but no equivalent for other veg
I wonder what kind of gizmo they use commercially to cut ribbons? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen beetroot and sweet potato, both of which I’d quite like to make.

I expect they cut the cylinders first ... commercial enterprises probably have uses for the 'off cuts'.
I too had resisted getting a spiraliser .... until this summer when OH started his new job ... his first 'demonstration' was using a spiraliser so in the spirit of encouragement, and because we were swamped at home with wonderful sweet and tender Romanesco courgettes, I succumbed. During the courgette season we used it quite a lot for making a great herby and lemony courgette salad ... and I have used it for carrots too .... but it will probably sit in the cupboard now until the next courgette season ... but what the heck ... with his staff discount it cost us £7 .... it would've been rude not to eh?

<< high squeaky voice >> 7 Quid?!!!
Ditto here.
It's on top of the cupboards here in the box, until I do courgettes, cukes, and carrots.
I've got mango for breakfast.
Let's see if it will spiralize.........

Cue a pile of orange mud!
Or a pile of plastic bits when the spiraliser encounters the pit...

I think I could do with something like a giant apple corer to cut the cylinders, but I bet the commercial spiralisers take a wider cylinder

orange mud!
As Fonzie would have said. Correctamundo.
I had a mango, almond milk, and peanut powder smoothie instead.

Happy Birthday Mister Suffs…..………………..!!
Re: Sushi making kit?
Glad he's enjoying it.
Talking of kits, I spotted this nonsense in a local shop, a cookie kit. £1.
Instructions: add contents of bottle to 6 ounces of creamed butter and mix thoroughly.
The thing is, the creaming is the most complicated and time consuming (and these days expensive with butter at £1.50 a pack) element of any cake/cookie/muffin, so what's the point?!?
And will creaming the butter without the sugar work?

The bottle looks handy tho when finished with, Sakkers.
Glad it all went so well, Suffs.
You've reminded me, I need to sharpen my Japanese knives properly.
