Cooking time for roast chix recipe
From the July 2018 food and home entertaining
Directions
My question.....how long do you cook the chix for? Doesn't the temp seem a little or a lot high.
Thanks gang

Re: Cooking time for roast chix recipe
I roast in centre of a pre-heated oven, at:
230 Degrees Centig. for 15 to 20 minutes ..
Then, I reduce the temperature to 175 Degrees Centig and roast for 1 hour, approx.
I also baste three times ..
I have also roasted chicken at 200 Degrees centig for 1 hour, 20 minutes ..

Re: Cooking time for roast chix recipe
There was a discussion about this elsewhere, every recipe gives a different timing it seems
I think we came to the conclusion that putting it in the oven and cooking until done worked best And that it's quicker than you think so if you want nice skin you need a fairly hot oven
Member 461's methods sound about right to me, I use a thermometer of course (spot the scientist)

Nice hot oven and take it out when its just "under done" say around 70oC if using a thermometer and leave to rest for 20 mins whilst you finish off the rest of your meal.

Re: Cooking time for roast chix recipe
Thanks to all for your input.
According to saint Delia, for fast roast chicken, for a 3LB/1.35kg
Set the oven at 230C/450F for 45 minutes.
When time is up make sure the juices run clear.
I think Member 461 has it.
Thank you all.
