Strictly, this was the video that I followed for actually rolling the Babka, makes it look so easy...
I used walnuts instead of pecan as they are almost half the price.

Their version uses Nutella. Maybe something for Gill to do to use up that Nutella she mentioned the other day.....
Pampy, I made a steak and kidney pud a few years ago with oysters, as again that was the traditional way. I didn't like the oysters, and I suppose the reality is that the oysters were a cheap filling to eke it out, not there because they were tastier than the steak and kidney/lamb.

Thank you for sharing that video Sakkarin. I'm seriously thinking of making another babka for my workmates next weekend so it came just in the nick of time. I now know where I went wrong with it - sometimes you just need a video lesson!

The point where I think mine went adrift is at the point where you slice the roll lengthwise. It was very soft dough and chocolate, so although the layers were there, the faces bled.
I think that putting the roll in the fridge for 10 minutes or so would probably firm it all up a bit, and give a better cut. The twists worked perfectly as per the video.

The video is fascinating
The one I had looked very much like that, but I think Naomi learned to make it at her grandmother's knee, so it would

I quite like cooked oysters, but use oyster sauce, anchovies or anchovy essence to provide savouriness to casseroles or meat pies.

WOW!!! Thanks so much for the video, Sakkarin and hope that you enjoy making it!

Already made it Renee, Easter Monday, there's a piccy earlier in the thread, although you may not recognise it as it's not as pretty as the ones in the video!
The pic was sliced when it was still warm, when it had cooled down, the slieces looked more like they should.
