And you are pedantically, absolutely correct! My mistake - sounds like I´ve forgotten my French

Leftover milk is the bane of my life. I use so little and freezing little bits in tubs is a faff. I use semi-skimmed so it's not great for cheese.

I’m often trying to use up milk, sometimes I decide not to bother to have any, then of course I find I want just a bit for something, I gave up on freezing it, didn’t work well for me
I used to be able to buy 200 or 250 ml cartons of long life which just suited me but can’t find them now, in fact buying less than a litre of any kind is hard

Milk = custard made with powder Or home-made yoghurt from a dessertspoonful saved as a frozen blob. My usage tends to go in fits and starts, but as I use UHT it can just sit there. Even opened it lasts at least a week.

Milk is used in tea here. With our consumption we're very much more likely to run out than have any go sour. I can't remember the last time any milk went off. I order semi skimmed plus filtered nowadays, the latter would keep well if it got the chance.

Fish and a chip anyone? Well, the chip is an 8" one:

Musing... In the advert for Warburton's toastie bread, a toaster slice pops high into the air and descends, turning in slow motion. The slice is perfectly evenly browned on both sides.
Q: Does anyone on the planet have a toaster that achieves that? (Or ever did have.)

I think there may be a bit of poetic licence there. What really grated was that he put the bread into the toaster vertically.
Amazing how the chip story made a national newspaper . It would have been more interesting if it had turned out to be a battered worm.

It’s interesting about freezing milk, isn’t it. Here, only one of us drinks any, and then only in tea. In the past I always had a spare pint in the freezer, but in the past year or so that hasn’t worked, it separates as it thaws and makes a very odd cup of tea. I wondered whether I was doing something different, but as far as I know, I’m not.

I don't know whether it makes a difference, shaking it as it thaws seems to have worked recently, it could have been random though.

I think that helps, Miss Mouse. I think whether full fat, semi skimmed etc makes a difference too. The higher fat content being the most difficult.

I use full fat, the 3.6% if that makes a difference. If it does separate it is still usable in eg white sauce. Annoying though if what you want is tea.
Re: Foodies In The News
What if you boil the milk first to distribute the fat? Might be worth a try... because my UHT whole milk has the fat distributed and the heat denatures the proteins (presumably disallowing them to form natural bonding clumps), and it doesn't separate on thawing so boiling might work.

My toaster (from JL iirc) only seems to toast on one side these days, even though when I peer into the depths, both sides seem to be glowing
