Tapas
One of our favourite Saturday supper dishes is tapas.
I usually include patatas bravas, but some numpty (me) forgot to put paprika on the caravan.
So tonight it's garlicky new pots, chicken cooked in fino sherry, garlic prawns and olives and marinated chargrilled veg.
What is your favourite tapas?

Re: Tapas
Garlic prawns every time
Something with chorizo and potato
Aubergine in olive oil.
Those 3 with a glass of wine and some good bread, accompanied by sunshine, and I'm happy.

Re: Tapas
Albondigas (meat balls) are one of my favourites
Chalçots (much like baby leeks) are in season, they are grilled and served with a romesco sauce, almost anything is good served like that

Re: Tapas
It may not be adventurous, but a really good tortilla espanola (one that's made with a generous amount of oil) is a lovely thing. (I am now trying to remember where I had some really delicious tortilla in a restaurant in central London, but no...)

I read that as 'those with three glasses of wine' and thought yes, you're on my wavelength. A bag of crisps, let alone tapas, would be fine with three glasses of wine.
(I agree with the garlic prawns, patatas bravas and vegetable tortilla. Would have a dish of olives and some Spanish cheese cut into cubes too).

Re: Tapas
We've got a lovely little tapas bar in town, run by a couple of Northerners. She's from Galicia, he's from Middlesbrough iirc. They do a brilliant dish of braised pork cheeks. Mrs B's favourite is zorza, marinated pork with fried potatoes, known in this house as 'pig & chips'. Of course the garlic prawns, patatas bravas and black pudding are good too.

Re: Tapas
Deep-fried artichokes ( or artichoke croquettes); xonxo ( whitebait) stirfried with eggs; montaditos (more or less anything you like); banderillas; any variety of shrimp; brie & pear skewers with flaked almonds ( had those in Barcelona); .......
I think I could quite happily live on tapas for a fortnight.
With the 3 glasses of wine, of course.

I got as far as reading this yesterday and remembered I had a couple of aubergine that really needed to be used up. I thought A in OO sounded really nice so tried to look for a recipe. What I found was a recipe for almost a ratatouille and as I also had a large courgette and a red pepper, they went in the pot too. Ah well, I can freeze that in portions and cleared some far from fresh veg from the veg box.
Yes, 3 glasses of wine with (plenty of) bread and those garlic prawns .. sorry just don't do chorizo bleugh smiley)
Re: Tapas
i think you can make anything into a tapa.
we've had braised baby gem lettuce quarters, a sort of mashed potato with smoked paprika, slices of manchego on toasted bread and a strange green bean and scrambled egg thing, apart from the usual offerings, in spain.
among the meat offerings were criadillas...

Re: Tapas
I think in British English “tapas” is fast becoming the word a style of eating rather than necessarily dishes from the Spanish canon
I often mix in N African and Middle Eastern dishes, which increases the vegetarian repertoire considerably.
When not in lockdown there are 4 establishments close to me that call themselves tapas places
escosesa- almost fine dining, Spanish chefs, Scottish produce, fabulous grilled langoustines
Black Pig White Pearls - cheerful tapas/wine barl
Aun - Japanese tapas
Chuku’s Nigerian tapas - no idea but Grace Dent says it’s good

Re: Tapas
Our local tapas place does a lovely dish of cubed potatoes fried with morcilla & parsley and topped with a fried duck egg. I've used it as basis to make a warm salad at home using black pudding and a bag of peppery leaf salad.
My other favourite there is warm griddled aubergine slices with honey and goat cheese.

Re: Tapas
Anything involving octopus or cuttlefish I have both in my freezer at the minute waiting for a nice sunny day - sunshine on a plate!
Crispy fried pig's ears dunked in very galicky aioli.
Ham & cheese croquettes.
The three glasses would have to be large.....!

This seems to be becoming a thing
It's not what I said, but it's what I would probably do.

Re: Tapas
he he he.
I'm looking forward to being able to drink wine again.
Tapas for me:
Almejas is noomero uno. Just steamed, but with sherry is lovely too.
Ensalada rusa. I adore for breakfast, lunch or evening tapa.
& cod, croquetas bacalao
Others things I adore but these 3 epitomize deliciousness for me.
