A friend has emailed me to say that she is making 'salami al ciccolata' for Easter.
I'd never heard of it and thought it sounded rather foul, but apparently it's broken biscuits, melted chocolate, nuts and other ingredients rolled into a salami shape. A Portuguese recipe she says.

PP, that does indeed look good. I can't eat it, sadly, as it contains raw or lightly cooked egg.

I've heard of it before but it doesn't appeal to me much. Surely you could make the shape out of any 'no bake' concoction of that sort and not need egg - Rocky Road etc?

Well, you make a salami shape out of anything, but it wouldn’t be a traditional chocolate salami, which does have a slightly different texture; I’ve had commercial ones a couple of times
If you keep your eyes open when ordering online Binky you might see ready made ones, which must surely be made with pasteurised egg?

I’ve never tried it , but sounds quite nice . As said , a bit of a posh rocky road

I've decided what I want is Asda Bunny pizzas, because I'm a big kid.
I have to get stuff from there anyway to get Dd bunny crumpets, I always get her whatever shaped seasonal crumpets they have.
I'm actually even considering going there, and I've only been in my local corner shop in a year now, I get everything delivered.

Tee hee. Frivolous cutter shapes and food designs still amuse and delight me I recall gingerbread men but only plain round cutters otherwise. Deprived childhood eh? *violins*
I might make a simnel cake. No religious leanings, just the most thumbed recipe in my cake book cos I like it and I suppose my way of showing respect for what Easter is meant to be about despite commercialisation.

This weekend I bought some Waitrose/Heston Blumenthal Mocha Coffee Hot X Buns, which were 'reduced to clear'.
I've found what I want for my Easter treat - they were wonderful, really tasty and moreish, not like some of his seasonal concoctions which have what could only be described 'an acquired taste'.

I've had the M&S Marmite, and Chilli cheese ones.
I loved both.

OH went to W'rose with a list on Saturday morning ... on the list was 'small roasting joint for Easter Sunday' ... we have a half leg of lamb
Re: What do you buy for Easter?
No traditions or religions to think about here. Well except Easter Eggs, or chocolate, I guess that's a treat we still allow ourselves!
Food wise I'll probably thaw the gammon I bought at Xmas & ended up freezing whole & uncooked. Simply because with 4 days to play with, it won't matter when it finally thaws! I should imagine it will take a while, I think it was about 1.5kg.

I posted this on another thread because I couldn't remember who had mentioned a chocolate sausage - but have just found that it was a post from Binky on this thread.

Leg of lamb and guard of honour rack of lamb purchased...one for the freezer and one for Sunday.
I bought some of those little chocolate eggs filled with mousse which come with tiny spoons for the mousse. They were for the Easter egg hunt but me and OH ate them last week so I’ve had to buy more
