Scallops
I bought15 scallops for £10yesterday fresh from the boat in Maryport. Shelling them was a challenge but we managed and after washing to get rid of the sand, we had half of them for supper with black pudding from Tony Harrison in Cockermouth, crispy bacon and blurred blanc. All quite delicious. I’ve frozen the rest.

Oh drool I adore scallops and that was a superb price to pay.

My very favourite thing to eat.
Re: Scallops
What amazing value.
We love scallops, they're a real treat. Have to make do with Ocado ones here though. Better than nowt!

Re: Scallops
I've never tried frozen scallops ... only ever buy fresh on the shell, or go without, but given that I'm not visiting fishmongers at the moment, does anyone have a brand of frozen scallops they recommend?
Re: Scallops
We got some delivered with our Sainsbugs order - I had requested the bog standard but they subbed the finest, or best, or whatever the Sainsbury's luxury line is. They were fine. Canadian, I think. No roe attached.
Taste the difference?? Anyway, I think they were £7 a packet instead of £5 for the ordinary ones.

The frozen M&S Canadian ones I got from Ocado aren't bad at all, £9 for 300g so not cheap. They shrunk a bit, but were very nice fried with a little garlic butter.
The fresh M&S ones were very nice and even the Ocado tiny fresh ones are lovely & sweet even though tiny.
