They look lovely, Binky!

I think it's worth experimenting with whipped egg whites, potato, cheese etc. if ever you and your OH are in the mood but to master the basic thing is the most important. My original basic ones seemed like lumps of lead which was why I was keen to add egg white (and I did use SR flour) but I have made lighter ones since.

All this is reminding me of when Center Parcs, then Dutch, first opened in Nottingham. Would be about 30 years ago. There were two memorable features. The Dutch Pancake House which basically sold enormous waffles rather than pancakes, and the very strange toilets.

Enormous waffles I understand, but strange toilets?

We went to The Netherlands a couple of summers back and can't remember coming across anything other than UK style toilets!

Well I'd say that's a jolly lovely purchase, Binky.
My preferred way is savoury with a poached egg or 2.
And I've got the plain mix down to an art now, that will make up 8 waffles (6 for the freezer).

Gill, which waffle recipe did you decide on, that you now use regularly?

This is the recipe I am using:

1 cup of SR flour
1 cup of milk
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp sugar
vanilla essence

Whizz it all up with a Bamix while the waffle machine is heating up. Spray oil on plates, then pour on mixture, close and cook for 6-7 minutes. This is today's offering

Thank you. I will try a savoury one next time to eat with a poached egg.

I was torn between banana waffles a la Binky, or eggs.
I made microwave eggs - they're not a perfect way of doing them, but I quite like them that way. 45 secs to cook - 5 mins to clean the inside of the microwave.

You're on fire, Binky.

Rainbow, I've not got a lot of experience yet, as I only make this savoury one.
It makes 8 (well 7 if I overfill the moulds).
I've got images, but the hosting site is playing up. I'm getting a new laptop delivered, and might not struggle so much loading & using some of these useful sites.

2 large eggs, separated
150g plain flour plus pinch of salt
1/4 teasp bicarb of soda
25g softened butter
300g milk
squeeze of honey if you want - it's rather nice

Whisk the egg whites to stiff peaks in one bowl. Bring together the remaining ingredients in another bowl, and fold in the egg whites carefully;
(who am I kidding, I just used the beaters on slow).

Binky and Gill, Thanks for the recipes and pictures - I've saved them and must dig out my waffle maker.
it does char-grilling, paninis and probably other things too - but hasn't done anything for a long time!!

I'm getting panini and char grilling envy now.
Maybe I should have got the 3 in 1 after all, but never mind, I didn't. I make paninis on the hob, weighing down the sandwich in a dry pan.

Gill, how do you get the multiple smaller pics in your post?

I have to laboriously go to PostImage and load each pic separately, thus going back and forth between two websites. I would love to know if there is an easier way.

Binky, just looking at your post, and you have both [url ], &[ img] html.
Forget about the url one.
You can either load directly from your computer into your post as an attachment.

Or, I use postimage too, and load images @ 640 x 480 resolution - and copy the direct image link: https://i.postimg.cc/hjKLXxfC/IMG_20210 ... 56_556.jpg
wrapped between [img] and [ /img]

I find it quick, it will be even quicker when my new computer arrives today!

Used Binky's recipe for waffles this morning, except I made savoury ones, omitted the sugar and vanilla and instead added salt, chilli and dried methi leaves. Of the recipes I've tried so far, I think this was the best. Light and fluffy on the inside and nice and crispy on the outside, and all the ingredients whisked together in one bowl. I topped them with dal and they were delicious.

I shall send him my waffle recipe.

Then I can have a coat of arms 'By Royal Appointment'.

8-) Dame Binky has a rather nice ring to it :)

I'm surprised our Queen didn't send Megan a sauce boat. Two reasons, the first being that former chefs to royals say that no meal was considered complete without sauce and Archie has to be brung up right, the second relevance of sauce a more implied one ;) Notwithstanding that Haz maintains that "stepping away" was his idea.

I hope that your recipe is organic, Binky. I read that that was a requirement.
