Isn't it better to come into contact with a few bacteria to build up our immune systems? Going back to those days, I didn't know anyone who had food allergies. Yes, we had pollution but that was from the chimney smoke which lingered in the air and caused dirty necks! We obviously inhaled it too.

This article reminded me very much of all the foodie boards I have visited over the years.

Yes, reading the ‘Readers’ Comments’ can often raise a smile ... and sometimes raise an eyebrow or two ... I never ever in my wildest nightmares thought I’d see the Daily Fail accused of being a ‘left-wing rag’ but yes, that’s someone’s opinion, albeit that of a Trump supporter

Serendipitous timing.........today I was reminded that six years ago I was travelling to London for a Wildie meet. I didn’t note where we lunched, maybe Taz or Zedels?? Anyone remember?

Happy days.

Sounds horribly familiar, zosh!

6 years? I think it could have been the first visit to Zedel. Doesn't time fly!

Yes, the first one could have been 6 years ago. I think I have been there again, to Quo Vadis where we met Rats, Dishoom where we met Moira, St John's and the V&A since. Not to mention a few Norfolk meet ups. Gosh, the V&A was only just over a year ago, let's hope we can do things like that again before too many more years go by.

Zedels was the 16 January 2016. I went, but cannot find my pictures - my recent housekeeping is a mess, between mobile phone, ipad, and laptop images
Zero order to them.

We have certainly been to Zedel (no s) twice, I’ll look for my photos later, I might have binned some as I was having trouble with settings on my new camera

Taz seems an awfully long time ago. Didn't we once go to the one near the British Museum and once to the one near Borough Market? There was one near Farringdon station too but I don't think it was a Taz.

When you start thinking about it we've been to lots of places!

I remember the one near Borough Market, and also the Italian, wasn't it, near Farringdon? When Rio went too?

And that amazing Indian near Whitechapel.

Edited to add, wasn't the first ever meet a picnic on Primrose Hill?

I've just found some pics from Borough market on March 10 2007 on my old Flickr account. I have a feeling there may also be a pre-Wildie or 2 ...?

The first London one I went to was at The George, I think Spotted Dicks’s son was the chef there iirc?

I can’t remember which Taz we went to, but I do know I was sat near Sue, PP and Sian.

Then I think it was two Zedels.

I think the rationale for early January was that Spotted Dick and Ian would still be in the country after Christmas? After they ceased coming I think we pushed it back to later in January.

Talking about picking up immunity, I always maintain that being a Reception Class teacher for most of my career gave me startling immunity. Another Reception teacher told me a disgusting piece of information (be warned here!). Apparently there is more faecal material on the average Reception class carpet than in the toilets. We hold the children’s hands, give them a cuddle when they fall over, wipe their noses and are generally a tactile bunch. I don’t know how many times I washed my hands every day. But I never caught a cold. I had Covid in March , the only symptom being a loss of taste and smell that is coming back incredibly slowly.I can’t wait for the vaccine.

Sorry,, what - carpet on reception class floors? Why? Surely it should be something that can be cleaned with a mop and a bucket with disinfectant in it?

My mother was a pharmacist, she didn’t work for some years when I was small, when she returned she had colds continuously for 15 months and never again, but it’s not all good, another pharmacist friend got TB in its 70s & 80s wave (he was fine, got treatment early)

All Foundation, KS1 and probably KS2 have a carpet. A lot of work is done ‘sitting on the carpet’. Not any actual written work, but phonics, early numeracy, circle time, story time, probably half the day I should think. It’s been going on for over 30 years, probably a lot longer. To tell you the truth I’ve never given it a thought. It’s just the way it is. I imagine it’s the same in Scotland, N.Ireland and Wales.
