On the subject of local family brewers, the other day I toddled along to McMullens and bought a little minipin of 'Bootwarmer', their winter cask ale and some bottles of 'Stronghart'. Just sampled the Bootwarmer and very agreeable it is too.
In other years I wouldn't have bothered as every Macs pub would have had them on tap.

Personally, I'm quite happy with anything I can get my hands on.

I’ve ordered beer from a couple of independent online retailers plus our local favourite, Cloudwater. We’re having a fruit lambic style beer instead of wine on Christmas Day and zoom drinks with my in laws on Boxing Day. We have a list of beers we both have in stock and will be sampling them at the same time.
I also have some Christmas themed beers we’ll be opening when my OH finishes work tomorrow.
Personally I drink what I enjoy and will be ignoring any ‘advice’ from the Daily Fail.

I don’t normally drink at home because I regard it as a social event for pubs etc but this Christmas I will be having a drink and I’ve bought a couple of bottles of red wine. I wouldn’t drink any of those in that fluff article with Christmas dinner as their not really dinner drinks but I do enjoy Baileys and Port.
I always have a bottle of cheap sherry in the house, which I wouldn’t even offer to my worst enemy because it does give a great flavour to casseroles and stews etc.
Cheers

us, too. the homemade 'irish cream' is always requested by the young.
we shared a miniature of the hotel chocolate 'cream liqueur' last night. imbibed to compare, my partner says he prefers mine - and i didn't even have to threaten him.

Scully, I used to make homemade ‘Irish Cream’ but ended up having to throw about half of it away. It was lovely but a little too sweet to drink within short period before it went off. Baileys keeps for a lot longer.

Happy Christmas all. I am on my 2nd sherry.... Not really..... I normally have a sherry when cooking a roast and we have 'his n hers'. I tried the Branacott white last night, very nice..... It should go well with the guinea fowl for lunch. Might have a glass of Duro with the boerwoers.
Right now I am looking forward to a cup of tea in bed with the Guardian crossword.

Santa brought me a bottle of Scapa malt whisky.
You must have been good

Well, I was given a bottle of whisky for Christmas, that I've never previously heard of, and I've heard of quite a few, if you get my drift. It's called "Woodsman" - I thought with a name like that it could have been Bourbon, but no; it's a blended Scotch whisky. It's absolutely marvellous, and I would whole heartedly recommend it if you're a whisky drinker, and fancy trying something new.

had a quick peek at the manufacturer´s page, Gruney. That scotch looks right up my street!
Enjoy it!

If I buy Sherry on the rare occasion, it is always Oloroso.

I'm supposed to drink Buck's Fizz with my Xmas dinner!
I don't even drink fizzy pop, let alone booze!
I shall be having J2O - probably apple & raspberry - yum!
Personally, I prefer my Buck’s Fizz with my Christmas Day breakfast of scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on toast. Unfortunately because I was unable to visit friends this Christmas I missed out this year.
Cheers
