I made florentines for the 1st time yesterday, I had to swap some of the dried fruits as I did not have any cut peel or glace cherries but the end product was quite edible.

How lovely zosh! I'd forgotten about them. I've only tried making them once - probably almost 50 years ago. They spread all over the baking sheet and stuck together and I never tried again. I think I might. They'd make good presents.

Ingredient amounts are listed as:
Fine desicated coconut - 1.5 cups
hot heavy cream / coconut milk - 1/4 cup
condensed milk - 1/2 cup
Milk chocolate - 250 g

Being a coconut fan, I've stocked up on all things coconut for Christmas bakes, so will make these as a truffle size. Then I will try not to eat them...

I'm with you there Jeral ... and that recipe looks delicious, but I think I may have to sub milk with plain chocolate ;) :thumbsup :yum

I make florentines sometimes. I use the 'Farmhouse Kitchen Baking Book' recipe. I love them and so does my best friend. They make excellent presents and they last well.

Zosh, like the look of your recipe. Bet they were yummy!! :yum

Thanks peeps, I also made this...https://theclevermeal.com/yogurt-cake/# ... ainer-1552 as I had yoghurt (that needed using) and it was easy. We delivered (just to the doorstep) some of each to our fiends yesterday lunchtime, she has just e-mailed me to say they enjoyed them for supper :yum

That yoghurt cake does look easy and delicious, halfateabag. It'd probably make good muffins too :)

If like me you have round double-ended biscuit cutters and square ones and little else but a knife, be amazed at these clever ways to cut and imprint biscuits. OK it's 9.13mins, but don't blink as it's fast:

They're so adorable and easy too! I love sugar mice for decoration (but have always hated eating them).

I came across the cookie cutting tips whilst looking up linzer cookies and wondering how they got the fancy top markings. Linzers are buttery jammy dodgers with ground almonds, supposedly are delicious, melt in the mouth, crumbly not hard etc.

A good recipe (all five star reviews) is below, although one said not to bother if not using proper butter. Sob, since I can't eat it. So found a vegan version using coconut oil. I think a "perfect" recipe for me would be a cross between the two, so it'll need experiments...

They look much nicer than jammie dodgers!

I think the intricate patterns you describe are made using those patterned rolling pins. https://www.pastrymade.com/collections/ ... olling-pin

I've seen those but I'm wasn't convinced that the impression remains unless on a very dry bake that doesn't rise much (according to some reviews and given the price). I'd imagined bought ones were stamped, probably deeper than a pin does, but could be wrong of course.

The black and white chess board biscuits are a staple in German Schwarz-Weiß-Gebäck,

If you want especially pretty ones, use a crochet doily and press it on the surface. Makes a lovely pattern, too.
