How much food can Italians eat - 100g of smoked salmon each + mayonnaise dressed salad as a starter

My inlaws are from an Italian family, near Rome. My BIL´s father would invite us for lunch, many years ago.
Antipasto. Soup. Salad. Pasta. Fish course. Meat course. Sweet.
Wéd be eating for 3 hours.

And then Dino would walk out with chocolates and grappa.

And to answer your question - plenty! :gonzo

It was a rhetorical question - I’ve been to Italy several times, and in Sicily in particular I was regularly served 5 course, each of which was of the size I’d serve as one of 2 courses in England, each enough for a light lunch
But I really don’t think I could force down 100g of smoked salmon as a starter, it’s so rich.

I do think it’s a bit of an overload , I love smoked salmon but like you said Sue , it’s very rich and think loses its appeal if you eat too much of it

Ditto.

My personal dilemma, is it too early to download Elf Bowling?

Me too, especially if it’s on a bed of cream cheese between 2 slices of bread :yum :yum

What a load of oinkers!

I could maybe eat 100g smoked salmon as the main protein in a meal but the point was that Locatelli served it, with mayo, as a starter to duck and 3 other courses

I´m with Sue here. I´m no oinker
25-30 gms is probably more than enough as a starter; it´s a deliciously oily fish, but if you´ve got 2 or 3 or even 4 courses to follow...

Bottled my Bullace & Blackberry Gin yesterday, discarded the Bullace but mixed the Gin infused Blackberry's with Apples to make a pie. should be interesting.

Christmas may be postponed. Long delays on imports at the docks. Especially Felixstowe.

Mind you the port have employed Failing Grayling as an advisor, so things will probably improve. He might know a man who can rent him a new port. It will probably be somewhere like Stafford!!

For some reason that reminds me of the episode of 'The Good Life' where everything for Margot's Christmas depended on the Harrods van turning up in time - and it didn't. Perhaps we'll be making crackers from newspaper and loo roll ends, drinking rhubarb plonk and having a jolly good time anyway ;) .

Blimey, talk about excessive food handling! As a guest, I'd be happy with a photo of that charcuterie chalet.

Going to the other extreme, here are 50 vegan appetizers to browse through. It's a pain having to open almost all sites to get details and then zooming down for the ingredients/recipe bit  Some good ideas though:

Some of those look really good - I very much like the idea of cauliflower florets treated like chicken wings

Even if not vegan, it’s handy to have a dairy free repertoire, and you don’t always want meat before a main such as a roast
