I’ve just made a batch of cheese scones with fennel and Aleppo pepper and have some berry, macadamia and white chocolate blondies in the oven. I’ve somehow managed to make a bit of a mess but that is OH’s department

Both are lovely, I usually use raspberries for the blondies but only had a bag of ancient mixed berries in the back of the freezer
He always cleans up well, he’s good at the washing up too

Are Yorkshire puddings classed as baking ? Well I’m very proud of mine two weeks running so we’ll say they are !!

Nothing spectacular.
A wholemeal loaf and half a dozen scones.

After 75 years, I have finally made a batch of Cornish pasties!! The pastry was a bit weak and I forgot the glaze.
Tasted OK, but not as juicy as I remember mother making them.

Yorkshire pudding is totally baking Amy - and wow! What's you secret pls?
I've been meaning to make pasties at some point. Is that your mum's recipe that you posted, Aero? Less juicy as in the filling juices?
WW - thats a lot of baking - sounds spectacular to me!
KC2 - extra bp probably helped - how did it turn out?
Chinese Char Siu Bao (Steamed BBQ Pork Buns) from Omnivores cookbook. Recommended. I used a piece of leftover cooked pork I'd used for stock and made my own hoisin sauce too. Tasty. And very easy.

Peanut butter and raspberry brownies today to while away a rainy afternoon . They’re good , almost too good . I am finding letting them fully cook in the tin before removing helps a lot .
ZeroCook , your buns look amazing ... very professional . My YP recipe was from bbc good food https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/bes ... e-puddings. I did the usual tricks too of making sure the oil in the tin was really hot , I made the batter a couple of hours ahead and didn’t open the oven door while they cooked .
Re: What are you baking this week?
Thanks Amy! Hot oil & rested batter
Your brownies do look seriously good - I'd end up inhaling far too many if I made them!

Re: What are you baking this week?
did you follow your mum's recipe, aero? i'm not sure the filling is enough per pasty - if there's too much pastry it could seem dry.
a half oz of meat isn't going to give very much fat either, hence the added fat/butter - maybe a little more? on the other hand a bit more turnip and onion will make the filling 'wetter/juicier', too.

This has popped up on my FB feed. Does anyone actually make cinnamon buns?

I would if I wasn't just cooking for me most if the time (calories and all that . I think that cinnamon buns in particular need exactly the right (generous) amount of filling and are so often lacking. To control one's own seems ideal - and you can eat them very soon after they come out of the oven too
Re: What are you baking this week?
Amy, the brownies look really exotic!
ZC, thanks for asking, it tasted lovely and banana - y, was really very moist, and quite dense, not sure how I would describe it ... I used a bit less sugar than Felicity said but still found it rather sweet - I hadn't realised how my taste buds had adjusted to the low / no sugar experiments I've been making recently.
I froze 3 good slices as it was a large loaf and OH had cut out sweet things for a few days and I didn't want it to go mouldy (he's back on them again now!). I'll be interested to see how they come out of the freezer.

Re: What are you baking this week?
That looks very good KC2.
I've been trying to work out your peanut butter brownies for days Amy! Is it a brownie mixture with peanut butter over the top or a marbled mixture, some parts with chocolate and some with peanut?
Neither brownies nor banana cake are my favourites but both look tempting! (As do the Yorkies and pasties - I am supposed to be on a diet ).
The Chinese Char Siu Bao look good too. I have discovered that a local privately owned bar near here has started doing something similar for takeaway during lockdown and am tempted!

Re: What are you baking this week?
Normal brownie mix then melt the Pb , dollop it on and use a skewer to mix it through the brownie mix
Re: What are you baking this week?
KC2 - I continually reduce sugar - and salt in savoury dishes - in so many recipes - don't know if a lot of recipes use more sugar (or salt) these days or whether I've generally shifted my tastes to wanting other ingredient flavours to stand out. Possibly the latter .
Looks like it turned out well along with the extra bp.

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a salt freak But my blood pressure tends to be low, if anything, so I don't think I'm setting the scene for a heart attack!
