This has been highly recommended by people who paint garden sheds, beach huts etc. The colour range isn’t that vast buf according to those who’ve used it , it is head and shoulders above the usual shed paint

One quick thought. If you choose a dark colour it will make the shed hot in summer and a bit colder in winter than a lighter coloured one. It won't be a lot if you have good insulation, but it will make a difference.

I have shed envy :(

The barn paint looks interesting - though surprisingly they don’t seem to have a Barn Red in their range, I think the Tile red is a bit darker

That barn paint does look good.
I'm sorry for you Bea and Sue, that you have zee shed envy. I'll have fireplace envy to reciprocate, as I've not had a home with one since my 20's.

Barn red, now there's an idea.

 Fair exchange, Gill, although our fireplace isn't used as one it's very decorative and comes into its own at Christmas :D

Yes, it's odd the only red is Tile Red and it does look a bit dour. But there are several other Hove (and probably Southwold!) beachhut colours 8-)

you could alway's cheat, gill. a (dummy) fireplace with a vapour fire - or a screen with a looped fire from youtube...
you may not get heat with the latter but they look quite cosy.

That’s lovely Bea, far more elegant than mine

I have 2, and I like them but wouldn’t light a fire in either, I had a third one removed as it was literally neither use nor ornament

I confess to preferring soak-in treatments for wood as once painted there's no going back really as it gets into the grain so can only be suitably prepared and painted again. Whereas with soak-in, it can just be re-applied. Hopefully no algae buildup if a decent product, although a pressure washer takes that off fairly easily.

That said, if the shed is temporary, have you thought about re-sale value if painted in a specific colour?

New sheds always remind me of Swedish saunas, so you could intrigue the neighbours by walking in with a swimming cap and towel 8-)

Cool shed, Gill. And an extension to follow! Exciting!
I think bright process yellow could be quite edgy!

I’ve just painted our hen house a rather nice sage green. We don’t have hens, we store logs in it, but it’s very handy to have.

Scullion, I've seen the crackling fire effect on youtube that will play for hours. I shall try it out at Christmas for some ambient moodiness.

I have 2

Nay 3. That's rubbing it in a bit.

Your talking about a sauna, Jeral. An endless pool might be more Tony's style ;)

Thoughts of painting the shed will be revived in summer. It is treated, so there's no impending need.

Zero, I know you're a power tool girl yourself. I've got the rotary saw out today and have begun flooring base & the lagging.
Honestly, it's worth purchasing the shed just to play around in the garden a bit.

When I've done using it for my painting, it will house our bikes, and the Tacx trainer for indoor cycling. If we can all fit in.

I like soft greens and blues on garden woodwork. I think you have to consider what sort of 'room' you want your whole garden to be before painting a shed in a vibrant primary colour to make sure it's what you want. DD, who loves seaside themes, painted hers in stripes.

Stripes is bold, EM.
No sawing this weekend, it's raining. I'll have to think of something else to occupy me, such as solar panel videos for lights.
But do want to be in and painting on Wednesday.

We've just bought a cherrywood 1950's blanket box for the towels from a home nearby using Facebook marketplace.
Original labels still attached, which say it cost £8.
Surely that cannot be right.

£8 was more than an average week’s wage in the fifties. That’s an expensive blanket box.

Edited to add a wages comparison
