Thanks all.

If I knew when, where and if we were going, definately EM ;) .

They are sausagemeat, just as it came out of the pack. Due to intolerances or things that can cause digestive distress the scope to customise anything is somewhat limited! The sausagemeat just so happens to be quite tasty as is thankfully.

As they weren't key limes, I guess it's just plain Lime Pie! I had a bargain pack of limes from Lidl (69p for 5) with the intention of making one, although I initially thought Lime Meringue Pie (with lime curd) but fancied cream rather than meringue, and I wanted to try the ludicrously easy "traditional" filling using condensed milk.

Not a great deal of baking involved, as the biscuit base is one of the easiest things from a cookery book to make/bake, and the rest is just mixed together.

I did my usual scour of all the recipes from my own books and online, but in the end went for Felicity's as it seemed the best compromise.

Looking at my shopping records, those limes sat in the fridge for over a week while I dithered, maybe that's why the pie was nowhere near as "limey" as I'd expected. Couldn't find my "big splodge" piping nozzle, so it's rather a random mess of cream, just round the outside so you can see the filling.

Cost even with budget limes was just a shade under £4.

Nigella's is the one I used to use. I don't entertain at present but it always went immediately.

You have made me realise that I have never made or eaten this. Hope that we are allowed to socialise again one day, I might try it then.

Just bear in mind it's a fortnight's dairy ration and a month's sugar ration in one fell swoop.

That looks beautiful Sakkarin , not one of my favourite desserts but it does seem tempting . I did some cooking to raise money for charity /feed the homeless and really recommend these https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/lee ... to-pasties. Really tasty and I’m thinking would be good as a veggie pie too

Which is why I don't intend making it while I'm stuck in with little social life!

They look lovely AmyW. I hope lots of money was raised and/or needy tums filled.

It's good to know that people are helping with food for others that they know actually reaches those in need of it. A small comedy club, not earning income, has nevertheless volunteered to offer packed lunches for needy kids during half term. Well done all you people.

Amyw, I won't rant on about the government not providing for the needy, but I thought homeless people had been housed at least temporarily? Although, a report said that some had and then were chucked onto the street again quite soon, with some saying that was harder if not plain cruel with colder nights.

The pasties in the actual photo look really dry, or is that food styling as the recipe doesn't look particularly dry ? :?
I have all ingredients and was going to make leek and potato soup today, so I'm postponing that pro tem in favour of pasties...

The pasty mix was fine , I didn’t measure the cream out exactly , just sloshed enough in to get to the desired consistency.

As the government aren’t concerned about children going hungry , I think the homeless are even lower on their agenda . One young lad I gave food and toiletries to yesterday was just a teenager wrapped in a filthy wet duvet and you know what he was one of the nicest most appreciative people I’ve met in a long time

Government goes for day-only headlines and there was one that reported almost zero (or a massive reduction in) homelessness, but of course it then became old news (off the headlines) and inadequate funding kicked in again :(

Thanks re pasties. Being a top crimp, so less likely to leak, I'll do as you suggest and add fluid volume that "looks right" :thumbsup

Was given a couple of black bananas by a former neighbour, had some unwaxed lemons, so made a banana and lemon drizzle cake: http://patchworkparent.blogspot.com/201 ... -cake.html

It's very good :yum

Edited to add that I forgot to say that I reduced the amount of sugar by a good third and it is plenty sweet enough for us. I also used nothing like the quantity of sugar in the lemon drizzle :thumbsup

Coconut & cherry loaf cake.

I may have posted about making one of these before and I'm pretty sure I will again, they are a family favourite ;) .

Another of Ratatouille's boiled fruit cake recipe in the oven! As I'd run out of the rather good Tesco posh mixed fruit with cranberries and apricots I ordered them separately from Asda and made up my own mix with the bog standard mixed fruit ... will see how it turns out! Also, having cut and cut the sugar down, I tried it today with none, so it'll be an interesting experiment all round

Just to say that the d-i-y mixed fruit was great, and neither OH nor I felt that the lack of added sugar was particularly noticeable (although the dried cranberries are sugared).

Had a bit of beer left in the keg we opened on Sunday - I know how on earth did that happen! Felt like sacrilege to pour it down the sink, so had a quick google and made a loaf of beer bread. Added a bit of grated cheese to it too. Cut off the crust as soon as it came out of the oven - delicious! Can't see me making it often, we never usually have left over beer!
