Savoury "sort of" baking for me this week.
I made aloo parathas, flour and water, stuffed with potato, green chilli & garam masala. Tasty on their own, but super with a sauce spiced meal.

250g flour makes 6 x parathas. Dry fried, turning several times in the pan as they puff up and "bake":

Not a great shot, but inside is the potato layer:

Chocolate banana cheesecake from Ottolenghi’s Sweet tonight . Hugely rich and v small portions required but it was a bit of a more refined special cheesecake than your average one . Baked too where I normally make the non baked ones

.

Great pic sequence, Gill and really impressive bit of breadmaking - do you find it hard to keep the filling from leaking out when rolling?

Amy - what a dessert star!

Agree that both parathas and cheesecake look good. Not sure I would choose those flavours for cheesecake but know most people would!

The parathas do look very professional and un-leaky!

Yip! The cheesecake looks fantastic, Amy.

The parathas don't leak at all. When you encase them in the pastry, they remain as filling.
The only time I could see potato, was if the tongs penetrated the dough mix when turning - just once or twice. I could have used a spatula.

The filling is cooked potato, teaspoon of garam masala, and a dry sauteed green chilli.
The dough is 250g chapatti flour, 150g water, a little oil keep it supple.
Shape both the filling and the dough into 6 rounds each.

I'm sure parathas are coiled, and rolled, but this recipe came from a very old Indian book that I no longer have.

Today's bake, unbelievably crunchy rolls! Plus a pizza made from the dough for the 5th roll - I usually make them in batches of five.

Made some banana bread last night, ate the whole lot in one sitting.

Thanks everyone ... the Parathas look lovely , would make a good veggie lunch I imagine with some salad .

I’m not overly keen on chocolate and banana in cheesecake myself but I had a slice , then a large chunk to the ladies at work , wedge to my boyfriend and then some left at home for my housemates

First time I made sticky toffee pudding and followed this recipe from Mary Berry . It turned out perfectly so would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to make one

I bought some parathas from an East Med shop which looked and acted as if they were a continuous drizzle swirl, like a flattened Mr Whippy ice cream. They tasted good but I couldn't seem to fry them properly.

The Indian parathas I make are yeast risen, flat rolled (with or without stuffing) then dry fried but with an oil brushing either side before flipping a couple of times. The recipe says 50:50 wholemeal:plain flour, which tastes good to me :)

Pizza tomorrow, with herby tom sauce, pre-cooked butternut squash, mushroom and red onion, plus spinach. Maybe a spot of cheese.

Mmm Pies... Bet there won't be many left by lunch tomorrow ;)
Is the glaze "Egg, wait, egg again"?

My intended pizza turned into a quicker marinated defrosted tuna steak with various sauteed veg and spud, then whacked together (big wok-like pan) with extra deglaze things for gravy. No baking, except for the halogen countertop oven keeping the cooked tuna warm at 100C while fiddling with the rest. Pizza tomorrow.
