New Years Day 2022

Postby Binky » Sat Jan 01, 2022 6:45 pm

This is our prawn cocktail starter. I love prawn cocktail, even if it is retro. The plate is Highland Pottery. My contribution was to wash the lettuce, ha :yum

I used to love prawn cocktail before I became a vegetarian. It looks lovely.

I am having M&S fondue for one tonight, having had a diet of mainly maltesers and cake for the last few days :o

I think I need some fruit and veg though really.

Baked potato with chilli tonight and probably bed about 2130.

No, we didn't over indulge last night but we have walked today with a dozen pals.
6 or so miles in mud and wind, followed by beer and chips outside the pub.

We came home, lit the fire and made a pot of tea and J can't keep his eyes open now. Thank heavens I made the chilli yesterday.

I'm always shattered after a windy walk.

That looks absolutely delightful, Binky. Both the food and lovely plate and table. I love prawn cocktail.

I was invited out for lunch at someone's house, it was cold home cooked gammon and salads with jacket potatoes and very nice too. For pud we were offered delights which are apparently available in Iceland (the shop of course!), including these which were very interesting https://www.iceland.co.uk/p/yo-6-mango- ... 89115.html.

Happy new year everyone . Had a very quiet one , ending in a takeaway and Harry Potter. Back on the healthy eating bandwagon today or trying to

We had a huge salad yesterday too, it made such a nice change.

Binky, that's gorgeous!!

We had to have yet more of the seemingly endless lentil and butternut squash tagine, made according to a recipe in the new, February Good Housekeeping. It was not a success (see the what's everyone cooking thread  )

And there is still another portion left ...

But lunch was nice, I had a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese and OH had one with left-over goose as he's not such a smoked salmon addict as I am :D

KC2 - that last portion sounds as though it would make a good soup base!

HNY Binky!

I LOVE prawns! Love lettuce too - except rocket :vomit

But not cocktail sauce.

We have prawns in the freezer - might go into a stir-fry :yum

We have prawns most weeks; with fennel and pasta, as a stir fry, in a sandwich or a salad.

Here we go, a new cheese thread
I've moved the blue cheese discussion to it

Binky, your prawn cocktail is beautifully prepared! I love it too! A touch of chilli in the sauce works well and I believe that brandy is a good addition, although I've never tried it.

Dennis, where do you get your prawns from? I don't always like the appearance of some of the prawns in the supermarkets.
