Quality control James martin #2

Postby mark111757 » Sat Nov 20, 2021 10:30 pm

For the steak masterclass in the recipe it was given to add garlic and thyme to the recipe. How much is it supposed to be. This was not mentioned in the ingredients list. To me as a home cook and someone who enjoys tasty food, forgetting something like this is very sloppy. Dare I say careless.

Maybe it sounds petty but it is important to the overall recipe.

Thank you in advance

It sounds as if the suggestions of garlic and thyme were an optional extra - so I'd say 'to taste'. My taste would be one clove of garlic for two steaks and a few sprigs of thyme, and leave off the Oxo cube.

James Martin seems to be going downhill!

He’s very much not popular with the Twitterati Sue. Arrogant doesn’t even cover it,

I don't enjoy watching him any more. The arrogance has taken over from the personable young man he once was rather too much.

Undiluted Oxo sprinkled on steak?

It seems commonplace for editors of such websites to do shoddy work. I suspect it's just part of another job and they are not trained to double check.

I went right off him a few years ago when I saw him do a demo at The Good Food Show for Magimix. It was a small ticketed event and the last demo of the day, it was obvious he had been drinking, I’d say quite heavily by his demeanour. He couldn’t care less - throwaway comments, bragging that they were all drinking cocktails in hospitality and generally obnoxious.

I think he is a long way from the passionate but charming Yorkshire lad that burst on our screens.
