I haven't seen milk for sale that wasn't on a sealed container so assume they are suggesting the milk is sniffed at home rather than the shop. Could cause issues with stock control, something Morrisons seemed particularly bad at when they had a supermarket down the road.

I think they are replacing "Use by" with a "Best Before" so there will still be a date on it.

There has to be a date of some kind for stock rotation, surely?

Yes of course the sniff test is what you do at home after you have broken the seal

It just brings us to the same place as Germany, where the date is labelled “mindestens haltbar bis”- literally “ at least can be stored to” which tbh is how I’ve always used it

So many people seem to think 'best before' means 'use by'. I can see lots still throwing it away unnecessarily but let's hope it helps.

I always have citrus extras, whole, parts, skins, squeezed etc looking for using up. Have been mentioned on here in earlier posts - this should be a useful addition:
