Late to the party but a couple of things we like.

Tortilla in tortilla. Basically any sort of fritatta, cut into wedges and served in a wrap folded like a lab filter paper (assuming you weren't taught to flute those!). It keeps the grease off your hands and makes it more substantial. Our favourite flavours are chorizo & potato or broccoli & Roquefort.

It's slightly more dainty to wrap half a wrap around a smaller wedge...

Venison sausage rolls are easy if you can get hold of venison sausage meat and all-butter puff, but other sausage meats are more readily available.

Fidget pies will feature now that the apple season is coming. I've also baked fidget filling into rolls for picnics.

There's a company that visits the local shows. Dangerous they are. :D

Another latecomer. Things like stuffed vineleaves also go down a treat, especially if there is bread to mop up the juices.

I think brownies are a good idea as everyone loves chocolate and they’re pretty transportable . Even though I eat meat , I prefer vegetarian pasties and curried veg would be nice if you’re doing a lot of walking in our Glorious British weather . Some nice packets of fancy crisps or trail mix would be good to munch on walking

Aren’t you all fantastic. Thank you.

Will definitely consider tortilla in a tortilla next time.

Amy - I get you on the veg pasties. I’m making some cheese and onion ones too.

So it’s veg pasties, meat pasties, crisps, brownies and apples with boiled sweets and nuts for as we go along. I had fancied soup but it was deemed a faff for so many people. I’ve actually also bought sausages to cook and take along in case the pasties are awful….

I haven't read Sainsbury's magazine for years and didn't know it was still around. Is it online, Mark? It was either Suffs or our late friend FCQ who used to make a pie filled with sausage meat topped with pickle. It sounded delicious.

Thanks, I think you have to buy the magazine - at £3 I won't.

I used to make a sausagemeat pie which was topped with cooking apples and then baked. Haven’t done it for years but I remember the kids loving it. It was a Sophie Grigson recipe. I must look it out because OH would definitely eat it.
