I'm desperately trying to stop myself from ordering some of the curd tarts but my resolve is weakening very quickly!

Afternoon tea & cake makes lockdown more bearable.

Yum! That looks so deliciously civilised!

Can you ever stick with one slice of cake? I find that all but impossible (in a home environment).
I wouldn't usually finish one cake in a restaurant and then order another (because I felt greedy), although it reminds me of something that happened in Lyon about 40+ odd years ago. OH and I were in a restaurant in the old city area, and at the long, communal table were a group of men who ate their way through the set menu and then started again!

KC, I can stick at one slice as OH is in charge of afternoon cake and he can be stern if I am hovering for more. Portion control with bells on.

Lyon is the gastronomic city of France I believe. There are lots of small restaurants (which I think are called 'bouchons' as they are packed to capacity and a tight fit). As a city that attracts gourmands, I can well believe that a group ate two dinners :D

I only order once in a blue moon as a treat, but whenever I have tried to the last few times, the Yorkshire curd tarts have been umavailable :(

I really like the stem ginger cake too.

I am going to look away now, though, as I am dieting.

I envy my friend who's decamped to Ilkley...

When I was younger, I used to socialise with a group of people which included George Best and some of his team mates. We'd often have meals, usually in pubs (to soak up the alcohol, I think :D ) and I've several times seen George go through 2 or 3 main meals. I suppose he ran it off on the pitch.
