I have a Corbyn and King voucher for £200. 3 friends and I would normally gobble that up and I tried a get together in between lockdowns when Brasserie Zedel was open. Not a chance.

It was the public transport that was the perceived problem. I get that.

1) Go to club and meet with friends whilst drinking cider, watching afternoon racing or any other afternoon sport and nattering about everything and nothing.
2) see above
3) see above the one above

Visits to friends etc also on the cards but baby steps to begin.

Cheers

I am due to celebrate my 50th in June this year. I hope that things are open enough for me to tick off one of the bucket list items. This is likely to be one of the lower key ones, such as a 'bog-standard' visit to Cannon Hall Farm near Barnsley. It features on the Channel 5 series 'Springtime on the Farm' plus all the other seasonal versions.

I would also love to have a pub meal on the way home from a trip out somewhere, go to the theatre, see some friends etc.

Anything right now , I’m really missing the whole socialising part of life . Going out for drinks /something to eat is one of my favourite things and I’m really feeling the lockdown blues at the minute .

Beer in the pub with the friends, talking nonsense.
Chips on the way home.
No hangover, preferably.

It's my sabbatical year, as I have mentioned ad nauseum, I suspect. (I apologize.) It happens once every seven years. I fear I will not be doing the planned writing retreat or wildlife photography week or language week abroad (all with strangers).

I am looking to day trips once we are allowed to leave our immediate area. I had a lot of nice ones last year, and discovered some new places. But ones to the coast were a bit of a mare. The worst places for shoddy mask-wearing and social distancing, whichever coast it was.

I do hope my Pembrokeshire holiday happens. It's staying somewhere very remote. Not even proper internet :o
We will try to go to France, of course. (God knows what the state of the place will be.) And maybe stay in MIL's house before it's sold and explore the North Wales coast.... which we never did when she was alive. So we are lucky to have two relatively free, Covid-safeish places to go. I am trying to find a self-catering place where I could stay on my own and write for a few days (husband taking me there, then staying for a weekend, then coming back for me.) But many places suitable for a non driver unwilling to use public transport are already booked up.
It would be good to sign up for some courses.

Meanwhile I have to book flights I can't possibly go on to avoid losing my vouchers from last year's aborted trip to Berlin. I suspect I may be a bit out of pocket. It seems unlikely we will both easily find flights (we booked separately) that come exactly the same amount.

re socializing, I have really very much retreated into my introverted shell. Socialising is probably going to take me out of my comfort zone for a while. I've done one social thing since last March apart from zoom things.

I read something the other day about airlines not being able to just cancel vouchers if it hasn't been possible to travel before they expired - sorry, I can't find the article now, but it might be worth looking into if you can't travel before they run out.

Thanks. Husband said he thought they were not restricting the time. I will have to look into it.

However I think flights are operating and certainly bookable in April, which is when we were supposed to fly last year, so it depends on what they count as not being able to fly, I guess.

The thing is we won't want to fly anywhere until we have at least been vaccinated. Possibly not at all this year. So even if lockdown comes off by April we won't want to fly.

So annoying we accepted vouchers as of course the flights were actually cancelled so we could have had refunds. But BA was a bit duplicitous/manipulative about this. (The refund was in very small print somewhere, kind of thing.) And last March/April we were all a bit shell shocked about everything. I am sure we did lose out on various tickets we'd bought- theatre, gigs, exhibitions etc.
