If it happened nowadays, they'd get so much online trolling they'd be gruff
Re: IT'S HERE!!!!!!!
i wonder how he knew they were a goat rather than a sheep. sometimes (depending on the breed) the only way you can tell the difference is the way their tails go!

I imagine Mr Buckland assumed it was a goat, because his name was Billy...

Umm, a small confession.
These past 3 days I've been posting the factoids from 'W', which is why they were posted so early, , Nobode there knew I was posting on here However, I've now broken up for Xmas, so all being well, it's back to the regular time

Grasshopper
Spring ventures forth to plant the grain
And Summer dries the straw.
Autumn gathers in the harvest
And Winter shuts the door.
Re: IT'S HERE!!!!!!!
we don't care what time they're posted as long as it supplies the fuel to satisfy the ingrained, national need to pun!

And you don't have to go to Switzerland - they are available in UK.

Re: IT'S HERE!!!!!!!
I happily eat little brown (Morecambe Bay) shrimps so not sure why I find the idea of bug burgers so unpleasant
I did eat sweets with insects in them, didn’t like the sweets so…

Oh, I think I might have had silkworms too, as a sort of bar snack
Not that different to brown shrimps in texture really, not as much flavour as seafood though

Re: IT'S HERE!!!!!!!
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Yorkshire Grasshopper burgers - with chips, of course.
Re: IT'S HERE!!!!!!!
I don't like grasshoppers. Years ago, on a hike in the Alps, I took off my boots and socks while having a break for lunch. When I put the socks back on, I found that the grasshoppers had eaten holes in them! They looked like the comedy socks that clowns wear...

Ahem - we like some grasshoppers surely? Such as Grassy!
It was crickets not grasshoppers ate my soft herbs this summer, I hadn't realised the darn things flew so well or did such a good impression of their cousins, the locusts

Re: IT'S HERE!!!!!!!
I've eaten some moth caterpillars as a crispy snack and also fried mealworms; one or other was cheese & onion flavour iirc, but they were not otherwise particularly tasty. Cycling to and from W*** down the towpath, as I used to in the summer all those years ago, it couldn't be helped but to swallow some aerial plankton. Again, not very flavourful. Of course in the colly and broccoli florets there are also stowaways, some of which escape detection but not digestion.

Didn´t know that, but I went to a place in Mexico that sold them.
The place was packed: had to worm my way through the crowd to get a table.
The waiter asked me if I wanted to drink something. Tequila, maybe?
"Yes, " I said, " Gimme a slug from that bluebottle on the counter"
He beetled off and came back with the tequila and the menu.
" I´ll have the Scorpion Special, with French Flies"
16 Tequilas later, I said:
"Gnat wash veryy goood. Great grub! Jusht gimme the bill cos I´ve gotta fly"
"OK", said the waiter." Just a tick - I´ll only bee a minute"
