Re: Oddbox
I woke up this morning to find my Fruit/Veg box on my doorstep.
It did contain ALL of the fruit/veg that I listed earlier... perhaps too many oranges (5) and an ENORMOUS head of broccoli 6 smallish eating apples, but easy to use up now that I have found my apple cake recipe
Now, what to do with the Celeriac ? I searched on here and saw that Herbi made a lush looking pie with that, mushrooms, leeks etc ... Can you post the recipe please Herbi (or pm it to me ?)
They do supply a meal planner to use the produce you have received, but not always the recipe (for instance Orange Jam and Apple bites for breakfast) They also offer plenty of advice about using up and making the best of all your veg - I just have to find my way through their web site/blog ....

Re: Oddbox
I seem to remember that in Zedel, they make a wonderful (cold) purée of celeriac.
Ramsay combines it with slow-cooked venison - a sort of posh stew - and JO slices it thinly into salads (a bit like Mexican jicama), makes soup, or makes "Smashed Celeriac" with thyme, garlic pepper and olive oil. He reckons serve it with any meat you want.

Re: Oddbox
That looks delicious PP ..
The last time I bought celeriac I made soup - just wondered what else I could make - aside from remoulade as the meal planner suggests

Re: Oddbox
I've made parsnip & celeriac bake at Christmas

This one is also nice https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/cheesy-celeriac-leek-rosemary-gratin
I've also used it mixed with potato to top a cottage pie.

Re: Oddbox
Not my favourite vegetable but I believe you can make nice oven chips with them. Recipes online.

That's one of my favourites too.
I also use a proportion of celeriac when making mashed potatoes (to reduce calories), add it to meaty stews and pasta sauces where I might have used celery and add it to vegetarian curries and chillies. It's also very good with cheese sauce, so often gets added to cauliflower cheese or cheese-y pasta bakes.

Re: Oddbox
My first thought is always celeriac remoulade, but it's at it's best served with charcuterie, which I know you aren't keen on

If you happen to have access to Jane Grigson's vegetable book, there are a few ideas there, a celeriac and cep soup and a gratin alla milanese. Mine is from 1980ish, and very yellowed, I can try taking a pic of the relevant pages if you'd like me to

- i buy about 30 a week. i might eat one a day, usually less (i'll get handed the occasional half of a peeled orange) the rest are eaten by himself.

Here's Raymond Blanc's celeriac puree:
https://www.raymondblanc.com/recipes/ce ... ee-recipe/
Although I'm not normally one for mushy mash, its wetness works well with some dry (gravy-less) veggie pastry things or dry meat chops or schnitzels, made either plain with paprika/cayenne/nutmeg or maybe alternatively garlic & rosemary/thyme depending.
More often I use celeriac as wedges, oiled/paprika'd and baked in halogen fan oven. Left quite big as they as they shrink to nothing like parsnips if too thin.

Re: Oddbox
again, thanks for all your suggestions.
I will probably make a carrot cake to use up a couple of the oranges, however didn't get any carrots in my box, so now need to buy them
I must also dig out my very aged tupperware orange peeler .. It makes the job so much more pleasant for me as I can't stand getting the pith under my thumb nail
