PS the cubeb, melagueta and long pepper are a bit reminiscent os the West African suya mix?

Absolutely Sue; I´m not suggesting my "version" is worth using, unless someone wants a vague approximation, but this was simply what I found on the web. I´m sure an authentic version is far, far more interesting!
Cinnamon and Cassia are very similar - although not identical.
Wall broom grass - I found a couple of recipes that called for "ash berries", so maybe that´s what it is.
Malagueta pepper is delicious, and has some wonderful overtones which black pepper (or even Szechuan pepper) does not have. The restaurant I sometimes work for usually has it; they pick it up from the east of Venezuela.
I´ve got no idea what belladonna seeds taste like and have no intention of finding out. And aren´t castor oil seeds the source of sarin?
As for iris root - again, a mystery to me.
Apart from a way of spending an interesting 40 minutes, however, I´d recommend that anyone looking for ras-al-hanout should find an authentic Moroccan provider!

Ricin, the poison famously used on a Bulgarian umbrella to poison George Markov, only really dangerous when injected but I wonder if he means one of the false castor oil plants?

There are lots of ash seeds that can be used as spices, including the 2 I suggested, pink peppercorns and Sichuan pepper but really don’t know

Agreed, cassia and cinnamon are closely related, personally I prefer cassia which lacks something I find mildly nauseating in cinnamon but most people seem to prefer cinnamon

I don't think it's necessary to get that esoteric to mix up some up, Kdka!

I'm sure the Moroccan cook whose link I posted is pretty adept at knowing what a diy version would work well.

I used the Ras el Hanout in the recipe I posted earlier, it got a big thumbs up
Very tasty without being over hot, I used Lamb mince for the meatballs.
Here is the video clip I took it from
