Of course, Smitch - I'd forgotten about that. I've never done a Christmas shop with them because of the minimum spend.

I've no doubt they'll be kept and maybe more will be found with temporary extra resources for the period. Or, will people have already panic-bought enough way before then? Might be a cunning plan to book a Jan slot for reduced offers...

I very much doubt that Ocado's Christmas slots have been booked up as they haven't been released yet!

Smitch is right they have been released, we've booked one.

Did you have to spend a minimum amount in order to reserve the slot or could you just reserve it without having to actually put anything on the order?

You have to meet the minimum payment and check out.

The one year I did an order as we were hosting Christmas, I put loads of random stuff in my basket then edited the shop nearer the time.

Given that people who normally host a large family Christmas may not be able to, it would be even harder than usual to get it right in the middle of October! Also, it's before a lot of the Christmas specials are even advertised. We usually get a Waitrose roast of some description - and they don't even become available to order until November. I like browsing the actual Christmas catalogue rather than deciding online and I remember last year asking week after week at Waitrose when it was going to be available!!

I saw a lot of Christmas stuff in Sainsbury’s as I raced through

Some quite nice but I was tempted by some pleasingly retro cake tins (decorated ones for storage) - though I cannot find them online

Stokey Sue, do keep looking. I looked for tins on Amazon, Etsy, Ebay which cost a fortune even second hand. I always check "gift" selections, but most come in cardboard. Tins are keepsakes "of the time" as well as being useful.

Please let us know if you spot any tins.

I expect they will turn up in a few days but their site lacks the trail that enables you to go back to a category from a google hit
