I really like the look of that, given how much I like sweet/sour!

As and when we ever go to the market again, I'll not necessarily avoid the peppers that are past their best!

Nice recipe PP thanks for the pointer. I would leave out the currents - and maybe substitute raisins.

What I found most amusing - are the comments at the end of the recipe !

Comments at the end of these things are always good. It does sound quite potato heavy but the sauce is quite sweet and strong. Did we really need two long paragraphs about ageing peppers in the fridge? I found that very annoying. Think it would be nicer
tweaked with rice instead of potato actually, good way of using various leftovers.

yes, a little potato heavy, and it needed something else - a little more depth - maybe a few grinds of this sort of thing.
i used two cloves of garlic, it wasn't really discernible so one wouldn't be worth using.
i added more chilli.
it could have done with a second red pepper.
- or maybe just halve the potato content.

I thought about making it tonight but in the end didn’t want to stand in the kitchen stirringly did think one pepper, however large didn’t sound like enough with 2 onions

that doesn't appeal at all, not by ingredients and definitely not on looks!
it has the same sort of eye appeal as labskaus.

To be honest there are any number of variations on these onion + pepper + tomato sautéed together dishes, that one just has less tomato and soured cream, the potatoes were a pit more unexpected

I was intrigued to watch Theo Randall make *piperade with roast peppers from a jar on tv recently, I’ve got a big cheap jar of peppers might try it

* strictly speaking piperade is the name of the veg stew, though I know in the UK we tend only to apply the name to the dish with eggs added
