Garlic - home grown

Postby Loulou » Sat Aug 15, 2020 6:17 pm

I planted some garlic several months ago and have just lifted a bulb from our mixed veg area. It is quite small - that’s ok, but what surprised me is it’s a deep pinky red colour. Is that normal does anyone know? It tastes quite strong which is good!

In my experience, garlic comes in all shades from white, often with a slight blush when fresh to almost rose pink or quite purple,

the colour depends on the variety, usually. were the cloves that you planted pink/ pink skinned?

We get garlic here that´s grey-ish, pink or deep purple.

No just normal white ones, hence the surprise.
