my late bf, really couldn’t hear any difference between her saying the word and a native speaker

and vice versa. our spanish teacher was also running a business while the kids and i had our lessons and the way she said the name of the company produced a shocked expression from us and then muffled laughter until she ended the phone calls. i told her i was amazed that she said such things to customers and when i tried to correct her pronunciation she was convinced that she had said it in the same way.

my kids did french from about one with my french friend then spanish from a couple of years later, when the (native) spanish teacher came to work in the department of my friend.

I always mean to do that and forget, I used to buy French and German women’s magazines to stop my vocabulary from being stuck in 30 year old textbook speak Got some good recipes too!

PP I already have far too many condiments, including a few of those I do prefer Crystal or even Frank’s to Tabasco, there’s something about the flavour of Tabasco I’m not keen on. Must get some nam prim Pai, I didn’t know MaePloy made it

Has anyone tried any of these?
I´ve tried the Lo Gan Ma preserved black beans. Absolutely phenomenal. They also do one with peanuts, which is even better.
Not tried that specific sambal, but have tried (and made) several others. Wonderful; although those that include fish sauce are delish.
Haven´t tried Mama Z´s banana ketchup, but I´ve made it for local restaurants and foodie events. You´d be amazed how good it is and surprised at its versatility ( rumour has it that the people in the Philipines put it on their pasta). Anyone wants a recipe and I´ll post it.
Crystal hot sauce? Been there, bought that, no thanks. I don´t find anything special about it.
Maggi liquid seasoning? Another one that doesn´t rock my boat, although there´s a tasty version in Mexico which they call "Jugo Sazonador" ( seasoning juice)
Mr Naga hot pepper pickle. I went to a curry house in Maidstone with all my cousins. Asked for the hot mango pickle and it was dreadful. So I asked the waiter for something "REAALLLY" hot, and he brought me Naga. Finished the whole lot, and the manager was so impressed, he gave me a jar

i've tried all of the different plant milks in cappuccinos (at a vegan fair) and i have to say that they didn't do it for me at all. i wish they did but i think they ruin a good cup of coffee (i don't know if they would be any different in instant coffee).
my partner, who drinks soya milk in everything where cow milk is normal used, including tea, won't have it in coffee. unless you buy the more expensive 'barista' version, it curdles.
they are fine in custard and cheese sauce etc - but definitely not in coffee
