Thanks very much for the recipe Scullion and your advice about adding some gram flour. I like the idea of using whole roasted cumin seeds, which will add to the flavour of the falafels.
Re: Foodies In The News
I couldn't get in to that recipe, either, Sue. However, when I clicked on "Take me home" I got to a very nice looking Lemon-Spice Swedish Visiting Cake!

Re: Foodies In The News
No, it wasn’t blocking me yesterday or earlier but it is now. Weird.
Anyway what you do is ruin spaghetti carbonara for 4
You fry some smoked bacon lardons as usual adding tomato purée and halved cherry tomatoes, adding a good amount of pasta cooking water so you can transferor to the pan of drained pasta instead of add ing the pasta to the skillet to pick up the sauce like any sane person. You beat 2 eggs and 4 yolks with Parmesan, pepper, salt, and more pasta water and stir it into the pasta.
I have several objections to this
- It’s not carbonara
- The combination of tomato purée and egg sounds unpleasant
- It’s not carbonara
- The amount of salt added to bacon and Parmesan is ridiculous
- It’s not carbonara
- The amount of pasta water and tomato makes it unlikely that the egg will be able to thicken the sauce properly
- It’s not carbonara

Re: Foodies In The News
YO was guest chef on Saturday kitchen yesterday. The other guests were Charlie Stayte and Naga Munchetty who between really took over the show. Matt Tebbutt had a hard job keeping control of them - in fact he didn't really, but I really enjoyed the banter between them, although YO looked like he felt he was on the wrong show a couple of times ...

I LOVE aloo tikki! The mint sauce is an absolute winner. I´ve even used it for grilled chicken and fish.

Food and faith. Sort of! I know Grace Dent isn't everyone's cup of tea but this made me LOL.

Talking of Grace Dent, I've just caught up with a very good Infinite Monkey Cage from 01 February, which as well as the regulars, Robin Ince & Brian Cox, included Grace, Harold McGee, Katy Brand and Mark Miodownik

Simply Raymond Blanc! I watched this last Sunday morning and enjoyed it very much. It's on today ... ITV 11.55am-12.55pm.

Thanks Renée, I saw this and set my recorder just in time. I have to psych myself up to watch dear Mr Blanc and his affected accent and mannerisms, but he's doing soups and salads so I'll watch later when I can bring myself to click on Play

CBD is something I'd try after winning the lottery since all medical active agents are excluded (seemingly both good and bad) with only anecdotal support for the oil and I doubt there's more than a drip per vat in chocolate. Still, if it works as a panacea in some peoples' mind thinking, who am I to knock it?
Re: Foodies In The News
My concern about CBD is that there haven't been any clinical tests done to see how it interacts with prescribed medication.
Jeral - what is it that you find "affected" about Raymond B's accent? The way he speaks on tv is exactly how he speaks in real life.

My very, very favourite ex cricketer and current commentator Bumble swears by CBD products. Anyone else wouldn’t touch me but I’d try it on his recommendation.
Mrs Gullible from Harrow.
And Raymond is absolutely lovely. Last time went to Le Manoir, for mum’s 85th, he was sat at the next table doing a press interview and he was so lovely to my mum. Seven years later it still gives her a thrill.
