It looks great in the evening sunlight, however it definitely is too moist, having had a slice for breakfast! Would probably be awkward to spread frosting on! Oddly doesn't taste as heavy as it actually is.

Keen2cook: I´ve had ONE accident on a mandoline and since then have avoided slicing/grating fingers thank goodness. I just make sure the microplane is well away from my digits!


I can just see me losing concentration and ... also my obsession with grating down to the last scrap, cleaning the last bit of batter out of the mixing bowl, hummus from the food processor etc more or less guarantees a nasty accident!

Sakk, the cake looks fab!
