it fills the house with smoke, produces a disc of carbon which carries on smoking for hours in the garden and survives being rained on etc for at least three weeks before it's redeployed as a discus!

That reminds me of the ex refusing to believe that a microwave would cook sausages in 3mins 30 secs so programmed them for 33 minutes ...
they could be used to sink a battleship ...

Ha, actually, the thought of sausages cooked in the microwave is pretty horrid, even given the correct length of time I can't imagine what you wanted them for, Suffs

Ha! Horrendous images in my head of these microwave fails
Has anyone made a decent microwave cake in a mug? We’ve done a few but they’ve not been great.
KC they’re 7 and 3…I obviously did all the oven related bits!

To be fair it was one of the first multi-function microwaves so it had a browning function

Chocolate cake is best for microwave mugs. It doesn't look so insipid and chocolate usually tastes quite nice!
Re: What are you baking this week?
i've only ever made one microwave, chocolate, mug cake. it was ok but for a little extra time a full sized one is better.
when i was working at the farm the manager came in, during afternoon break, saying he was in real need of cake - so i made one (chocolate) - ingredients to stomach in 25 minutes including cooling and and chocolate buttercream filling.

Re: What are you baking this week?
I thought that the magic of instant cake in a cup in the microwave was something which amused youngish children? I wouldn't do it for any other reason (except maybe an instant pudding just for me very, very ocassionally).
Re: What are you baking this week?
Made hot cross buns at the weekend . Pretty pleased though my crosses weren’t very cross like .

Engage brain!! Making bread rolls.
Forgot to allow for the kitchen being a lot warmer than it has been. Went off and did something else. Dough massively over-proved...

Little bit of baking this morning
A batch of cheese scones, some will be lunch
And blueberry muffins, just because they're nice!

They look nice.
I ought to make some cheese scones again. I haven't done any for ages.

It's the first time I've tried this recipe, thinking of poor Dave Myers and hope he recovers well.

I hope they enjoyed it!!!
Re: What are you baking this week?
The cake carrier came back empty! I was supposed to go to the lunch, but I had a heavy cold. So I thought it best to stay home as most of the diners are older than me!
The lady who organises the lunch also runs the Wednesday coffee morning at the church. I sent a Meissen cake along one week and she asked me for the recipe. Apparently the coffee morning ladies have demanded that she makes one every week!! OH usually goes there, but arrives about half an hour after the start. There is never any Meissen cake left. OH has to make do with a slice of coffee and walnut cake, or carrot cake...
