Thus my best tip would be to make and enjoy truffles instead to avoid disappointment of wasting good chocolate. A secondary tip is that some recipes add a spot of espresso to bring out the chocolatelyness.
I made a lemon cake today with a filling of a bit of lemon curd (veggie jar) and only a spot of whipped cream, which I'm finding is scarce on the shelves at the moment. Maybe we lockdowners are all becoming indulgent...
When is lemon curd not vegetarian ? Do some brands contain gelatine , I’ve never really considered it

I wouldn't know about other jars, Amyw, just know mine is.
Re: What are you baking this week?
I just wondered as you mentioned it was specifically vegetarian , I assumed that maybe most had some kind of gelatin added to make it non vegetarian in that case , although having a look while online shopping , all the brands available seem to be labelled vegetarian .
It’s not something I would notice either way , as lemon curd isn’t something I buy although have made it a couple of times

Re: What are you baking this week?
Amyw, sorry to have put you to the trouble, it was just second nature from years of checking everything to ensure it's veggie.
Re: What are you baking this week?
Never said it was a trouble , I was just genuinely interested as not something I’d thought about before whether shop bought lemon curd was vegetarian or not
Re: What are you baking this week?
It’s late, and I’m tired, but is it just me misunderstanding?
I use eggs when I make lemon curd, but I’m not sure what’s in shop-bought?

Re: What are you baking this week?
Lemon curd is made with lemons, butter, eggs and sugar. Most vegetarians eat eggs and butter; vegans do not.
as for molten lava cake: the chocolate I´d be using is 65-70% pure cocoa. I wouldn´t want to spoil it with coffee, and I think the whole point is to get the middle slightly runny. Yes, it involves quite a few eggs, but they´ll be mixed with sugar and chocolate and cooked for (according to GR) 9 minutes. Beats a dippy egg!

I realised I’d confused vegetarian and vegan shortly after I’d posted. How embarrassing!
Re: What are you baking this week?
My sourdough must have changed significantly over the past few months. Possibly by the addition of some rolled oats at one point. In the past I have had problemsgetting a second rise from the dough, and so I have been baking with only one rise, albeit several hours worth after an overnight in the fridge.
Today I decided to try a second rise and did it all at room temperature. The bread rose quite a bit more than it usually does, or did in the past with a second rise, so it might be a change of method in future.

Made this for my friends birthday today ... lemon and ginger sponge filled and topped with creme diplomat and macerated berries
Re: What are you baking this week?
that looks scrummy - is creme diplomat the same as créme légère?
i really miss the meetings of the clandestine cake club - it was a way of sampling loads of different cakes, like the tempting ones you produce!

I made a pecan and chocolate brownie tart with DD yesterday. We’ve just warmed up a slice each and served it with clotted cream. Delicious naughty Monday afternoon treat!

Oooh, that looks nice.
I'm not a huge fan of brownies but I'd be prepared to take one for the team and gobble it up with unseemly haste .
