Joan has peace
I've just received the terrible news that Joan has passed away in the small hours of this morning.
All I can do is copy her husband's message.
edit on 11th May
Would anyone like Adam's email address? I've just asked him if it's OK for people to message him directly.
PM me if you would like his details.

After settling well into her new hospital, Joan was unexpectedly subject to a return of the infection that had plagued her in February. She was taken to the general hospital at Salon-de-Provence on Monday.
Giles and I went immediately, finding her delirious and feverish, but the staff there quickly took control and the following day she was sleeping calmly in palliative care. We sat with her through the day and she died peacefully at 1 o'clock this morning (Wednesday).
Alison and Alex drove down from Lancashire continuing through the night, arriving safely at about 6 am.
We are hoping for a woodland burial ceremony at Belsay Hall in Northumberland but present circumstances are so difficult - however I promise to keep you informed.

Oh no. How terrible. I'm in tears here, she was so lovely when we met at Quo Vadis.
Please let us know if there is any kind of charity or memorial fund Gill.

Re: Joan has peace
Such terribly sad news.
Joan made such a difference to everyone who crossed her path in life and was so much loved in return.
My heart goes out to all her family who were so dear to her and I feel sure she will somehow rest in the Northumberland woodland which seems so right. Sending my love, prayers and condolences.

I am so very sorry to read this sad news, my thoughts and wishes are with her family and friends at this time. I will miss her reports of life in France, she wrote so beautifully of the countryside and local foods, her recipes were always so tasty too.
I do hope she gets her wish for a woodland burial at some time in the not too distant future.
RIP dear Joan.

What awful news, am so very sad to hear this.
I have followed Joans career since her MasterChef days, when she used to write for our local newspaper, and I have lots of cuttings of her recipes from those days.
She was so knowledgable, and wrote so eloquently about her life in France. I will miss her so much.

Pat, I did see her on the original Masterchef, as I watched the series back in the day.
And have her Christmas pudding recipe kept safe. She made and posted her Xmas pudding to Tony one year, knowing he adored it after the meal on Christmas Day.
It was a light as a feather.
I hope I can do her proud in future.
