What dishes have you made with them so far?

What sort of meatballs are we talking about here, ones you've made yourself, ready-bought ones, or ones from a tin?
Admittedly, HM or ready bought are nicer than tinned ones.
Also, what meat are they made from?
For beef, a classic tomato sauce, like a bolognaise without the meat, would go nicely with meatballs. Put meatballs in an oven-proof dish, add sauce, then cook until the meatballs are done. Lovely with pasta or rice.
for chicken or turkey meatballs, a mushroom sauce would be nice. Same method as the beef one.
Either would go nicely with salad too.

I assume you must already serve meatballs with pasta etc? I’d suggest looking at Swedish style meatballs for something different

I read a Turkish recipe for aubergine patlican with red pepper sauce the other day. I’ve just grabbed the book to check...you sandwich meatballs between discs of seasoned aubergine on a skewer (tightly packed together) so the aubergine becomes soft and absorbs the meat flavours. Grill or bbq and serve with red pepper sauce, natural yoghurt and flatbread.

Hi I’m omco
That sounds interesting - patlican is actually Turkish for aubergine
I don’t really understand the question either
In supermarkets here you can buy little meatballs that are really just lightly seasoned minced meat like burgers but I don’t entirely see the point unless you make them specially for the dish and season them accordingly. You can also buty Swedish meatballs but while I used to like them I’ve gone off them a bit. Very dense and not much flavour.
I sometimes make kofte which are little Turkish or Indian spiced lamb meatballs, either grilled or in a sauce. As a variant on the theme I like Croatian cevapçi

Re: things to do with meatball
the question was made vague on purpose.
I did not describe any type of meat, sauce or method of service
because I wanted to see a variety of Ideas and combinations.
As long as the one limitation is met that the balls be made of meat
and not meat like substances.
As for method service any way goes unless you suggest eating
out of an indentation of the dirt in the back garden.
On bread,on vegetable slices,in bowl, on plate, on wood/metal skewers and etc.

The vagueness of some of your posts often make it difficult for folks to understand what you are actually trying to ask therefore they get ignored or folks have to ask you to explain them.

OK. First question: have you looked on google? Because I looked on the first two pages and found Italian, Swedish, Mexican,Greek,Indian, Spanish, Moroccan,Lebanese and Thai meatballs.
Second question: what is your favourite meatball? How do you prepare it and why do you want something different?
.So please no recipes for not meat batter balls
Could you please enlighten me as to what "meat batter balls" are?
Do you mean (egg&breadcrumb) battered meatballs? Or is it something to do with a baseball batter´s diet?

...but you asked for meatballs, not veggie substitutes.

Is that how you serve yours? Actually, i find that comment somewhat offensive.

the "not" in sentence was and accident!
someone was likely suggest things like Menchi Katsu(mince cutlet )
meatballs .which is ground meat or mince battered( in other words a hamburger
battered )
"..but you asked for meatballs, not veggie substitutes."
yes i know but there alway someone who does not read
will suggest using one those imitation meat balls like beyond meat type products.
what is your favourite meatball?
is fried stuffed meat ball a friend taught me to make.
it is similar to stuffed burger. the meat version jelly doughnut or
chinese dumpling with skin made meat and stuffing something else.
or like reverse ravioli.
How do you prepare it why do you want something different?
because like different tastes looking different thing or new ideas.
Re: things to do with meatball
Even recipes for meat substitutes in ball shapes might throw up some interesting sauces and serving ideas - just use your favourite recipe for making the balls out of meat instead.
This is a good recipe; I've made it with pork instead of lamb, and I'm sure meatballs made with typically Greek seasonings would be good too.

I have been making Delia’s meatballs since my children were small. My husband still likes her recipe for meatballs more than any other.

Re: things to do with meatball
Now that I understand the question, well I think I do.
You could try Spanish/ Canary Island meatballs made with an almond sauce.
Delicious, if you are comfortable with the Spanish way of using nuts in their cuisine.

Re: things to do with meatball
That looks lovely, Gill.
I haven't come across battered meatballs or burgers before. I don't think I'd make them as I'm not geared up for deep frying these days, but having had a quick 'Google' see they are quite a thing, especially with cheese centres.
I had always wondered why people bothered with ready made raw meatballs. Then some were left for me to cook for GD after school one day and on the same week I got some cheap in a rtc section. It is sheer convenience. You can pop them in the oven on a tray and have a no faff meal ready very quickly. Obviously if you cook on stovetop and make a sauce etc it is more work and washing up and less of a convenience food.

Re: things to do with meatball
I made these meatballs a few weeks ago using turkey mince https://www.theguardian.com/food/2020/m ... wine-sauce. We had them with spinach and tagliatelle, they were tasty. They were quite soft and thought they might fall apart while cooking but they held just fine.

Re: things to do with meatball
The ultimate British meatball is of course the faggot (faggot being old English for an untidy bundle, such as firewood). Also known in some regions as savoury ducks
I can't find a recipe that seems quite right, but this is about the best. I think they should be a little more untidy than these

Re: things to do with meatball
Faggots/savoury duck aren't really a "thing" round here, I've never seen them sold in any butchers. I first discovered them when I lived in York in the 1980s and adored them. You can sometimes get the frozen "Mr Brain" ones in the supermarket but I tried some of these about a year ago (I used to quite like them) and found them horribly greasy and salty.
I should really should have a bash at making them.

Re: things to do with meatball
I don't eat meat and have never made meatballs but I saw a tip a while ago about cooking them. The suggestion was to use the bottom half of an egg box to cook the meatball in - it apparently absorbs a lot of the fat.
Re: things to do with meatball
you could use them with a catapult.
play a game of food marbles.
thread them on a necklace for a hands free snack on the move.
curry favour with a neighbours dog.
use one as a temporary plug in the sink.
bait a trap.
make an edible representation of the cornish coat of arms.
use them in any dish that a 'non meat' ball could be used in, too.
personally, i would google if i wanted a new recipe for something, it will come up with a greater variety of recipes to choose from than asking a much smaller populated food board.
unless you want some more creative things to do with meatballs, then i'm sure we can think of some more to add to the above list.

Re: things to do with meatball
To be fair to lfoxr, I think if we all just googled for recipe ideas rather than ask others , it would make boards like these rather unnecessary. I do like hearing tried and tested recipes from others rather just a google .
I do think lfoxr though, you should maybe think about rephrasing your questions at times as they can come across a little ambiguous and very abrupt . Is English your first language or not ? If it isn’t it may be worth saying so people “get “ your posts a bit more .
