What excellent tales from Waitrose!

I walked round a deserted town centre for my walk today. Both M&S and Sainsburys were open. I could have done a big shop and met hardly a soul .

I went in the garden and saw sewer operatives hunting round the back alleyway looking mystified. I was able to tell them in great detail how the set up worked along here, for which I think they were grateful and which provided me with added variety to the entertainment I've had all week.

Meanwhile, I was reading an article earlier which discussed what was 'essential' shopping from a supermarket in these times. It said to come out with just chocolate and a duvet wasn't really towing the line. I agree, but had been going to add a packet of paper for the printer to my list to pick up on Tuesday. I am now wondering if I am being frivolous.

I don't see why paper is particularly frivilous. And if they are selling it, why not?! What about clothes and DVDs, though...?! I think if I go, I will be adding treats to the list. (Although they may be foody ones.)
I guess the point is don't pop in just for one or two things. I have had to curb the usual instinct to do this more than once this week: I have wanted indian spices, mozzarella and a soda stream cartridge refill. My list is growing, but the only thing I really absolutely need is saline solultion - and even that, if I am careful, I can manage without for a while. Would like eggs to make a bd cake for husband, though, in 10 days' time, but don't want to go and catch birthday C-19 for him.

Hello to all who've just arrived .

Thanks Herbi, you've convinced me that paper's not frivolous (its keeping me sane).

Posh supper tonight, oven chips made from potatoes which are starting to sprout, baked beans, courgette and two of my last three eggs. Followed by a satsuma and a piece from my treat store of shortbread.

I made a pasta bake Very studenty. And not very imaginative. Just couldn't think what to do with a tomato and aubergine concoction I made last night. There is rather a lot of it too. This was why I wanted mozzarella...

Had a low day yesterday, a bit better today.

DS goes back to work tomorrow, I just hope he can keep 2m apart from everyone else.

Good Morning campers. Thanks for your positive thoughts for Kai. He is very poorly in intensive care. I had a long call from the vet yesterday afternoon. Kai has a very low white blood cell count which is worrying, he is being pumped full of drugs to fight the sepsis. Lymph samples have gone to the lab and it will be Wednesday/Thursday before we get he results. Upside is the drugs will sort him out, downside he could have cancer and need to be put to sleep. The vet is keeping with th up side but had to warn us of the down side too. Kai will have to stay in hospital probably until the end of the week at least. Frankie is very quiet missing her brother.
