I am back. It is freezing cold, we had to meet the vet in the car park  He has kept Kai in for a couple of days for intravenous anti biotic drip and tests, his lymph nodes are swollen, his eye is bloodshot and swollen and his foot, all down one side of his body. It could be scepsis, we have to wait for tests to be done. I have sobbed all the way home. I just hope its treatable and not more serious.
Who cares, tomorrow is another day.

Morning all! :wave. The sun's out but it looks rather cold and blustery out there.

icey - I hope all goes well for Kai.

KC2 - belated birthday greetings and I hope that you have a delightful 'party' today!

I am rather excited. I looked online and managed to get a click and collect slot for the Sainsburys on the other side of town on Tuesday! It took an hour of trying to get my payment accepted but some treats such as milk, fruit, eggs and bread may be available!

My concoction of leftover cabbage, potato and out of date tinned mackerel last night was lovely! I mashed them up together in a chunky way, added dill, lemon juice and seasoning, put into a dish and topped with a handful of pine nuts which needed using and baked it. Had it served with sprouts and broccoli. Not a mixture I would have had in a million years usually but it all worked well together!

Today I'll brave the garden again. I wish it would warm up a bit.

Icey, I hope that Kai improves
Suffs, sleet :o Agghhh, but I do remember some places having snow at Easter.

I only saw one police car on my visit to the ATM and that one was returning to Episcopi Police station. Lyssi, the Tardis like periptero has acquired plastic screens around the till.

Bruschetta for lunch, a tomato topped one, the other will be artichoke as I have a small jar of artichoke paste in the cupboard.

Quite a lot of posts to read back through! But right back to page 1... I happen to have blood oranges and rhubarb, and indeed, I think, all the other ingredients to make the clafoutis. Milk and eggs are approaching/just gone past their use by/best before dates, so can justify it. (Was going to make bread and butter pudding.)

I am very reluctant to go to the supermarket so trying (unsuccessfully to source eggs and milk for home dlelivery at the mo. (Mozzarella would be a bnus!) It's husband's 50th on the 10th andti would be nice to make him a cake. Meanwhile I will be looking up eggless cake recipes.

My mother got on the priority supermarket list and she has a delivery for Monday. Not sure how much of it she will get. Can you get round the no more than two rule byu ordering different brands/varieties? (She has an ice cream bar every day...)

Very windy here and no sunshine. To garden or not to garden...

Belated happy birthday from me too, KC2!

A heads up for Herbi

I've just had a phone call from Chinch who asked me to let Herb know that you can contact Sainsbugs on 0800 953 4988

It's an automated system and she says 'It does work!' .... You'll need either your Nectar Card or your Last Order Number.

Chinch is going to organise herself in a bit and join us at the campsite :thumbsup

good morning, all.
sunny, bread proving and going in the tube very soon. when baked it may go into the freezer for a cloudy day.
the parish (non religious) rag and part of 'the times' got converted into small plant pots yesterday. today will be spent potting on and sowing into some of them (i made quite a lot), a portion of which will go to our son who is preparing some of his garden for planting wild flowers and another area for vegetables.
we are sharing his tesco delivery today. our share will be picked up late tonight from the airlock that is his garage so some of the plantings will be passed over then.
they have just made an announcement on the news about the continuation of the archers and how episodes from the end of april will start including references to the virus. i think there have been too many people saying they're moving to ambridge!
hope kai is ok, ice.
have a grand day, everyone.

Love and prayers for Kai Icy.

Got up to do my shop and found that the car wouldn’t start. Battery totally flat. It did this on Christmas Day and I had it checked by Halfords who told me it was fine. It hasn’t felt fine at all and I was pretty sure it was knackered. The AA were wonderful. Had a VW specialist van arrive within 10 minutes. He did a full diagnostic check - defective battery, alternator and everything else excellent. He tracked down the nearest AA Van carrying that particular battery, drove to Wembley to collect it and I was up and running within an hour.

Got snowed on in the queue for M&S Food.

I remember it snowing on the 2nd May one year - it was the first day of my honeymoon and we were in the Cotswolds.

Icey...can't see an appropriate hug emoticon (the one I can see is a bit too cheerful...) but sending you some.

Thanks Suffs, and Chinc. As I mentioned, mother is now on the priority list. She had an email, but think may have been on it for about a week as some slots kept appearing. I plaed an order for her yesterday for delivery tomorrow. Fingers crossed it goes ok. Very relieved we finally have soemmething sorted out. Hopefully my anxiety won't move on to fear of her catching it and dying now :o

I could do with an order myself, now, but Sainsbury's is not taking new customers. Pretty sure wouldn't get a slot even if they were. Will probably risk the shop at some point.

Thanks all for birthday greetings :newhuggy

I have a lemon tart courtesy of Little local Waitrose - having rung up on Friday to check if they were getting deliveries of their Sicilian lemon tart, the posh one, as I fancied it for my birthday and OH doesn't bake cakes, they said they would be getting them in and I should go first thing Saturday morning to be sure to get one.

But, when we went, there weren't any. I asked about it and the manager checked and said they hadn't had any delivered. But would I like to take an alternative, on them, as they were very sorry to disappoint me! On the bill it just said "It's on us"!

Another friend who fractured her arm just next to the shoulder, fortunately not requiring pins and an operation, said that the Chiswick Waitrose had got in touch with her as her sister had told the Canary Wharf branch that her sister in Chiswick had broken her arm and couldn't get a delivery slot.
This was before the lockdown and they didn't have some of the items in the Canary Wharf branch either, so her sister couldn't get them there and bring them to her when she visited her.

Some one from Chiswick Waitrose came to her door, said they would bring back whatever she needed. When they did, they wouldn't take any payment as they're not allowed to. When she offered to pay via the website they just said no! Isn't that a heartwarming story?

Ice, fingers crossed for Kai and a speedy recovery :crossed

PP - phew, glad the AA sorted it all out for you :thumbsup

It's trying to rain here, hail is forecast.Feeling a bit out of sync because of the clocks going forward - even though it's only an hour!

And in Suffolk ... the Church Plain in our village was completely white with it ... it was the 6th June ... my little Granny's birthday. A newborn DD was out in the garden in her pram ... I had to rush and get her in!!! Then we had a heatwave and drought.
