I'm off to pick up my click & collect from Majestic, then as a contrast I will go to Homebase for some paint.

Good morning everyone,
Enjoy your drink NLB, it's the first day of beer gardens opening here and it's actually dry for once though still quite windy and chilly.
I think my son has worked out that he's getting too old for "all nighters"  , he surfaced at lunchtime had loads of water, coffee and a bacon roll before returning to bed not to be seen until after 5pm. He was in bed by 10pm, says he slept like a log, but still looks shattered this morning!
After my :mug: I'm heading out to the garden to make the most of it being dry. I really want the back garden "finished" this week so apart from dead heading etc. I can just enjoy it for a couple of months.
Refried bean tacos for dinner tonight , the beans are a "here's one we made earlier" from the freezer so an easy put together this evening.

Chiropodist for me too EM; teeth removal can wait a bit, our dentist will be pleased! Chatting to one of the receptionists on my morning walk they are the only dentist open in the town and have had many requests from people outside its practice.

Jrc, friends we meet regularly for lunch, she had what sounds like your condition. Email from him yesterday, mentioned they’ve been walking in their local park and buying ice-cream.

Friday, I took OH to Superdrug pharmacy, well organised and safe, that's the first time either of us have entered any premises since before lockdown.

I am very overdue for trip to the dentist. My eye test isn't due until autumn, and they will stop my contact lenses if I don't go (although I imagine some negotiation may be possible) but my glasses are the wrong prescription. Will wait a bit.
Got back at about 5.30 yesterday. It really did just take 3.5 hours! The traffic was not light, exactly, but we didn’t have to stop at any point on the motorway (as in traffic jam) as we usually do. Just a brief snarl up when nearly home where a tree had been blown onto the road. New roads, and thus an end to road works and a 50 mph speed limit on part of the A1 probably helped.
I got rather dehydrated this weekend with the inevitable various consequences. (An ibuprofen and coffee breakfast required…) We were trying to limit fluid intake to avoid the need to go to the loo. How very elderly person of us. We had an appalling diet. Dinner on Saturday was chips followed by coffee cake. Yesterday ‘brunch’ was a slice of Bakewell tart (not pudding.) Some nice porcini tortellini when I got home, though.
My mother enjoyed going in the garden immensely. Didn’t seem very interested in talking to us… but she enjoyed herself. We tried to time ourselves to avoid carers, but they were very late so one arrived, with her mask half covering her mouth and not her nose at all…
Derbyshire was gorgeous. I wish we had had the time and a relaxed state of mind to appreciate and enjoy it more.
The garden has suffered somewhat over the weekend. A lot of plants were wilting with lack of water even though I’d watered everything on Friday night. Two of the quadgrows which contain 30l were almost empty. Sweet peas, beans and mangetout battered (and the sweet peas have mildew :( ) and my other big pot of proper peas, snailed. I have to day off and will start attending to things shortly, although not really ‘in the zone’.

good morning, all.
bright with flashes of sun.
nothing planned other than exercise while the afternoon play is on. i may need to keep going for a bit longer each time as the 'chocolate box' seems to be rather full of goodies. we hadn't finished the last lot before this lot arrived - and it contained more than the last. if we were bingers it would be a temptation, well, maybe my partner would be tempted but he knows there would be reprisals if he ate my share!
i'm sure the chocolate tasting club will be back to normal service soon although it has been nice receiving the extras.
i'm wondering if our freezer is failing. most of its contents seem ok but a tub of rum and raisin ice cream i bought in the last delivery seems to be staying very 'soft scoop'. it may be the alcohol content (although i thought that was just flavouring).
coming back to this after checking the reviews - it seems that others have thought the same - our freezer is off the hook, phew! maybe carte d'or should put a warning on the tub.
oh dear, this post makes our diet sound much worse than it really is.
have a good day, everyone.

Now I have my MRI report I phoned the hospital to get an idea of the waiting list times.

They said depending on the consultant I may have to wait up to 18 weeks before I get to see him.

Good morning
I’m ticking off the appointments slowly

Feet done

Eye treatment was done routinely in May but the other specialist for the glaucoma cancelled my February appointment and I’m having the checks on Thursday

After I’ve had the eye checks I’ll see the optometrist about revising my specs, but I need the checks first

Waiting on hair, letting the rush subside, also I’ve so nearly grown out my fringe, adopting the Lucy Worsley hair slide over one brow, I might as well wait and do something a bit different think I’ve done geometric

Some admin stuff I need to pick up

The cemetery park was closed yesterday - because it has so many old trees if a wind speed above a certain level is expected it is automatically kept closed, in view of the Ealing street tree yesterday a good call - for those who haven’t seen it

Scullion I’m wondering if they are making ice cream a bit softer generally, I’ve a tub of Kelly’s and it doesn’t need the regulation 10 minutes relaxation before serving any longer, I checked temperatures

i don't know, i don't often buy tubs of ice cream but this one is really of a soft mousse consistency not at all like ice cream - which was why it made me think the freezer was on the blink. i've never had ice cream like that before - unless it had been left out of the freezer way too long and was just before it started to actually go runny. quite disconcerting.

Morning Wildies :wave

Mimi, how are you today :newhuggy

Herbi, glad the trip went comparitively well.

NLB, glad you enjoyed your pint. We thoroughly enjoyed ours.... :D

As luck would have it, my annual eye test falls in January and my last check-up with dentist and hygeinist was in March, just before we went into lockdown. Hair is scheduled for Friday and I must say I'm very much looking forward to no longer having lockdown hair syndrome. :thumbsup

Morning all!
Glad you're back safe and sound Herbi and hope you're feeling a bit better, Mimi.

Sue, I hadn't seen that clip of the falling tree - I used to drive across that junction, directly below the path of the falling, tree at least twice a day when we lived in Acton and I was taking the boys to primary school!

Have a good day everyone.

Just popping in very briefly to say thank you so much for the tip on returning Facebook to the ‘classic’ look. It’s been annoying me so much for weeks. And to make matters worse, when I was typing in my reasons for changing, the whole box disappeared  . But I am definitely happier now, thank you.

How funny. I missed that Amber but have just asked the very same question over there. Stokey Sue sorted me out. :wino

That's very good news Mimi :thumbsup but do take care not to overdo things ... Boris Johnson thought he had a mild case, until someone checked his SATS and found out he was very ill indeed!

Horrible as it is, I'm so glad you don't seem to have respiratory problems, mimi :newhuggy. (although Suffs is right because others have experienced the same, I do wonder if Boris Johnson was in denial a bit too).

What an amazing tree video! I had always imagined that trees would creak, wobble and fall slowly and could never understand the sort of accidents where they suddenly fall on passing cars - now I see! :o

jrc - ask if you are on a list to be offered a cancellation appointment. A friend whose knee operation had to be postponed due to Covid was told they couldn't say when it would be now. She can hardly walk and had her house fitted with aids including a stair lift- then got a call asking if she can come next week!

icey- that's a big issue if its affecting your air quality.

Just had a nice walk. I thought I'd seen the heron but when I put my glasses on it was a black and white normal sized bird sitting on a twig growing out of the water .

I don't remember being offered a new look Facebook, I'm rather glad.

The new look FB is rather annoying - in some ways it's easier for me to see, but in some ways not, and on balance I decided I didn't like it

Just paid all the bills that fall due at midsummer, I feel poorer but virtuaous, so will go for a walk now, maintaining my careful building up to more exercise

Hello all from the ferry to Rhodes....

Moira, we bought cherries and apricots from a roadside chap, cheaper than Lidl further down the road. The apricots need a day or two to thoroughly ripen but the huge dark lush cherries are fantastic. We did stop at a Lidl further down the coast as the local one had a CV queue and could not be bothered to wait. Bought Ouzo and Metaxa for him and I found giant beans and various stuff that we will eat in the coming days. The cold box has been invaluable, We have only bought an evening meal as the brekkies have supplied our lunches as well.

After shopping we had a HUGE mixed kebab in Piraeus, there was enough for 4 people so the rest came with us in a box into the cold box only it is not so cold now. We caught the ferry at 6pm and are now just past Syros heading for Patmos at 2.15am, Leros at 3.45, Kos at 5.45 and finally Rhodes at 9.15am. We have aircraft type seats but on visiting them a chap seems to be asleep across where our feet should go. We will sit elsewhere but if we get chucked out of these seats will have to wake the chap and ask him to move !

Thankfully all the screamers are in another lounge so they should not keep us awake. Don't think we will sleep much anyway... The ferry is fairly full for the time of year, I don't think the schools have broken up yet.

Most people on the ferry are masked up as are we. Can't believe that this time tomorrow I will be viewing (hopefully) my villa. At home it seemed a very distant dream and now it is very close.

We had a text today from the present owner. He was distraught because the villa has some cockroaches. He thinks that the water in the U bend has dried up and they have come in that way.... They have been cleared and we should run the shower to keep the nasties away.
