Thanks Scully. That's very kind. I think I might as well see what Tesco's brings.

Is anyone else finding tinned coconut milk scarce?

I've ordered some fresh yeast "Kronjast Farsk Jast" made in Sweden (all they had) from Ocado, due today. See if it arrives... I know I've got some Allinson's dried somewhere, but am blowed if I can find it and meanwhile my flour bags are getting staler by the day. First task will be stuffed parathas.

A domestic refuse collector was on the radio saying how much quicker his lorry was filling up since lockdown. Initially due to grand clear-outs but says it's now due to food waste of unopened packets of all sorts. Excess buying should be called out and named as stupid buying, not the possibly justifiable panic buying.

No, well there seems to be plenty in the World food aisle of my local Tesco . Not only the normal size tins, but stacking tins of 3 in a smaller (and much more convenient for me ) size. :thumbsup

Got some dried yeast a couple of weeks ago in Sainsbury's delivery, pack of eight sachets. On Thursday I should be receiving a tin of Allisons dried active. If I do run out in the future I'll order a pack of Fermipan, that seems readily available.

The thing that has completely vanished is lime juice cordial

Morrison’s haven’t had any since lockdown began, I don’t get through a lot but I like a glass instead of plain water sometimes

We've been amending our Sainsbury's order. Opening message says they're out of stock of dried yeast, suggest we have beef suet instead.

You can't shout at a computer, well you can, but it won't take much notice. We've deleted the item.

For some reason, we've been unable to get food/freezer bags of any description in our on-line Sainsbury's shop for the past two weeks. I can't believe there are really none at all. I think the web site is in the process of being updated as it seems a bit flaky all around. Ah well- I expect I can pick up said food bags from somewhere else on my travels.

When I looked at the Lakeland website a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that a lot of their bin liners were out of stock.

Pure lime juice, PLJ brand, was out of stock, but could get some Britvic lime cordial so did. I find Rose's a waste of space.

Re freezer bags, a local mid-size store sells veg for which you pull a plastic bag off a roll. I buy one from them (pretty please). Zillions for c.£6 and perfectly good in the freezer. They're big too so can slide a tea plate etc in for the fridge or for sandwiches et al.

No, I’m not a great fan of Rose’s, I buy Morrison’s own which I suspect may be made by Britvic

Roses was bought by some US company a while ago who instantly substituted some cheap pseudo-sugar for the NA market. No idea what they have done here in UK-ville.

They used to have a warehouse on the Grand Union Canal at Hemel Hempstead. I think it is long gone.

I remember a native New York girl from my uni hall of residence taking bottles of Rose’s home in her luggage for her mother’s Christmas cocktail party, in 1974 it was far more expensive than London Dry gin over there

16 KG bags of flour stacked in my local Sainsbug yesterday. No, I didn't buy one, how would I carry it and what would I do with it?
