Ready meals, are they a con
Are some of the food products we buy as clear and cost-effective as we think? Plus how hospital shops penalise patients by charging over the odds for sandwiches.
Looks like a multi part series on channel 5, also available on the download circuit
I must admit I like one as a treat but not to live on them. Would much rather cook real food even if limited.

I rarely buy ready meals Mark, but do buy an M&S prawn sandwich for a train journey. I take my own drinks, so don't have to buy them.

I wonder how they define "cost effective". Will they cost a consumer's time for deciding, shopping, prepping and washing up as well as wastage (peelings etc), gas/elec, cleaning fluids.
Ready meals probably are cost effective in my view, but whether nutritionally sufficient, or as much as they need to be if reliant on them, is a different question.

freshly.com seem to became big deal here in the states at the moment. It has been years I suspect since I've had a ready meal. I always felt my money could be better spent elsewhere.

I think ready meals have a place.
I don't buy them but M-I-L enjoyed them. She had never liked cooking and effectively retired from it when she was widowed.
She was very partial to ham and mushroom tagliatelle.
